Excellent Value
River Hall is perhaps the best value in winter golf in SW FL. Sure, a bit of a drive to reach, but you will not find better course conditions at this price, anywhere else during the winter season. Tees are fairways were in great shape - greens were in excellent shape. Good pace, true roll. The course layout is a bit un-inspired, and no single hole stands out, but wide fairways and a good mix of length keep your interest the entire round. Will definitely be back.
A WORTHWHILE PLAY
I guess my expectations of a Davis Love course were a little bit high, not in layout which is excellent, but rather in conditioning. The greens are very mounded and multi tier but the topdressing slowed them down way below the 10.5 stimpmeter reading that was posted on #1 tee. Would love to play it when it is in pure conditioning shape. Fairway grass is sort of sparce such that the ball does not sit up very well and with the sand base you have to pick the ball clean or it goes nowhere. That part is similar to courses in the islands but overall a pleasurable golfing experience.
They're all high
One of my favorites for the snowbirds. Get used to 80&$ for Florida golf in January. No water and lots of sand . Links style and course grass before greens kill your chips. Tough if you're not long and good with wedge. I'll be back but surprised they decide remaining amount due between our foursome when I had to prepay $73. Means I had to collect difference from buddies.
great round
Played in 3hrs 50 min. course was in great shape . We play a lot of courses in the area, Riverhall is well worth the price.
Good all around golf
We have played this course several times while in Florida for a golf vacation and have always found it in great shape and a pleasure to play. Location is a little out of the way but worth the drive
Was nice to come back again
First round of our vacation. Excellent greens, nice staff. Great vallue. Course is challenging for both high and low hcp players. Not much water though. After round beer in a nice , friendly clubhouse. Will be back.
Great value
Really enjoyed course. We are average golfers and found it challenging but fun to play. We were paired with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed our day!
Great friendly course
Course was in pristine condition. Greens were great, challenging but fair. Layout is fun and varied. Fairways wide and forgiving. Highly recommend.
As Usual great course
The Staff was helpful and friendly, the course is one of the best the greens were a lot of fun, great pin positions.
Nice Course
Played River Hall for the first time. Went out in the afternoon and the pace of play was very good. Played in three. Much better conditions than playing other courses.
Just aerated!!
Love this course however golf now does not indicate aeration or other modifications when taking our money. Be advised!
Can I get a Ranger?
I have played this course several times and I really enjoy it. It is fairly open, good greens, and well maintained. They also have GPS in the carts which is an added plus. However, the GPS in the carts will also point out when you are falling below the pace of play. That is where it stops. With a simple observation that you are playing extremely slow. No ranger to be found, and no one to help push along the slower groups. I got caught behind a 4 sum that refused to let me(a single) play through. Granted they were behind a 5 sum. But that was it. I could have snuck by them in a matter of minutes with a ranger to help point out the obvious. I think these folks had no gold etiquette and I probably could have confronted them about it early on instead of blaming the course, but it should be the courses job to regulate so I don't have to. But besides that, I really do love this course and for the value(when it is out of season) it is work every penny.
River Hall GC
11:53 tee time w/ wife for $26.50/ea thru Golfnow. No Hot Deal prices available. Was only on 4th hole when heavy rain, thunder, & lightning started. Course closed down & was offered rain check for 9 holes only. Asked young man behind counter if I could use it for back nine late Monday & he said it would be fine. So I returned 3pm Monday 6/20 only to find out when I arrived to course that they close down every Monday for maintenance. Noticed later that rain check given was for only 1 golfer. So I'll never get to use it w/ my wife. Any ways, from the 4 holes played, course has a nice layout in subdivision setting. Houses are no where near the course. Tee boxes & fairways plush. Elevated greens rolling true & fairly fast. Would have been nice to play all of the course I think. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Has very nice Clubhouse w/ well stocked Pro shop & nice eatery.
