A Davis Love design
We have had a lot of rain this summer in southwest florida , most of the courses have not been in very good playing conditions, but River Hall was in great shape
Right Price
Good price through GolfNow. Hot day, but got through the round with plenty of H2O. A number of fairways were closed to carts due to frequent thunderstorms over the last few weeks. I should have played the Green/Gold tees instead of the Whites. Greens and fairways, though, were generally in excellent condition. Location is a little out of the way [from Estero], but worth the occasional trip for me.
just like paradise
perfect fairways and challenging greens, one of the best courses around.
Course in great condition
This is a fine facility. Fairways very well maintained; perfect lie every time. Greens were good speed, held well-struck shots very well. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience; we were paired with a nice gentleman and his father, who were great fun. Of course, any round is brightened when you have an ACE, as I did on number 5. <grin> I heartily recommend this course for value.
Great Venue
Everything about the course was top notch. Cart personnel to rangers were helpful and informative. Good range, great conditions, green's were very true and a great value. A must play course if in the area.
Great Value
We found the deal on Golfnow.com, and played a course in great shape for $25. The big challenge was the greens, but despite four 3-putts, it was an enjoyable experience. Fairways, greens, and tee boxes were in great shape.
Best course for the price in SWFL
Great greens, fairways, tees, service & simply the best course for the money in our area.
A good day of golf
Very friendly people , The course was in very good condition and a really challenging round of golf .
Great course and staff..
I played 2 days in a row because after playing the first time, I liked it so much. I played mid-afternoon both days. There were not a lot of people on the course. Played as a single both days and finished in 2.5 hours because I took my time. The staff welcomes you when you come and when you leave. The clubhouse is very nice from the outside and even more inside. The staff is very friendly. The course is very fair with fairways, rough, sand, and greens perfect. The greens run true and perfect. Every bunker I was in felt the same in regards to the sand. I really enjoyed this course and would recommend to anyone. This is a hidden gem!
better than OK....
Played for the first time, using Golfnow rate. Pretty flat and not memorable. However, conditions were good; greens fast when I played. A bit far, if you're coming from the beach. Would play again (for the Golfnow price), and would recommend.
great time, will be back after greens heal
played early with 3 regulars, course is in great shape aside from the greens just punched but big discount and excellent practice area more than made up for greens. 3 1/2 round with fun foursome.definately coming back in a couple of weeks!
Great course
The course isn't too easy or too hard it's the perfect challenge for the occasional golfer
Great place, great people
I'm going to sum up this review in 2 words: Jim Feipel.
This guy from start to finish made our day great. We called ahead of time to check to see if they had punched yet, he was honest with us and told us no the conditions were great. Once we checked in, he was able to get us out early, and even had the soft spikes I needed. He knew which fitting fit my MyJoys without even asking me. People like Jim make a good experience into a great one, so much in fact that I actually have inquired about a non-resident membership here!
As for the course, this was the last weekend before summer punching begins, so it was perfect. Firm fairways, greens ran about a 9.5 and very true as well. Shot 3 over from the tips. Fairly easy layout, trouble outside of the cart paths but otherwise this is a course anyone can get around.
Very glad this course got on GolfNow, have played it almost a dozen times now. If you get the chance I would make sure to play this course before summer ends! Pace can get a little slow earlier in the day, but afternoon times are usually wide open.
very good course
is a very good golf course four a very good training
New favorite course!
Wanted to try something new instead of the courses I've been playing in Cape Coral, North Fort Myers and Fort Myers. I'd heard some good things about Riverhall and wanted to check it out. Kind of hard to see the Riverhall sign on the highway because it's back off the road a bit and obscured by some big flags...so I breezed right by it at first. Great practice facilities! I'm talking about the best I've seen down here with an area for pitching, several for putting and a huge range with free balls waiting for you! Next time I'm going to go earlier to take advantage of that!
The course itself is challenging (I played from the blue tees) without being penal. Word of advice...keep it on the short stuff...that rough is longer than it looks and if you find your ball you WON'T be advancing it very far unless you got lucky with the lie. The greens were fantastic! The best I've putted on down here all year. Kudos to the Superintendent because you're doing something VERY right! Can't comment on the sand traps because I didn't hit one all day but they looked to be well maintained as well.
Loved the GPS in the carts by the way...nice feature when you're playing a course for the first time. Seemed like the yardages given were spot on.
All in all I really loved this layout! I read another person's comment that the staff was rude. They must have fired all those people because everyone I dealt with was both pleasant and professional. I'll be playing this course again and it will be on my short list of places to play when friends and family visit from up north.
Great place
This course is awesome! Very friendly off the tee and pristine greens. Grass is well kept, facilities maintained, and price was right. Ive golfed many courses in lee county and this is my favorite.
Awesome
Beautiful course and a lot of fun to play. Will definitely return.
River Hall - nice surprise
course was in good shape. greens a little slow but consistent. nice gps in cart and supplied towels. nice touch. played a little long for me from the blue tees.
i would definitely play again if in ft meyers area. very much enjoyed the day.
Great course with one serious blemish
Davis Love III did an awesome job with this course. It's beautiful and laid out very nicely. It's a lot of fun to play, even for beginners. The practice facilities are the best I've seen in all of southwest Florida. It has the potential to be one of the most fun places to play golf in Fort Myers if not for one huge problem: the staff.
They are terrible! I've played this course a half dozen times and every single time at least one staff member has been rude. The ladies in the pro shop are very nice, but they're very poorly trained. If you ask a question, you'll have to wait for them to get the director of golf or the pro to answer it. They have no clue, even on the most basic of topics like how to issue a rain check. I'm sure everyone has experienced a rude starter or ranger before, but I've never had a starter call me "son" before until playing at River Hall. Are you kidding me? Have some respect! On that same trip, they told me they were moving my tee time back 30 minutes so they could pair me with a member. So, the first tee sat empty while I waited for my course-assigned baby sitter to finish warming up. It was a lot of fun playing with him, though. In between cussing and throwing clubs he did have time to tell me about how he thinks the staff is terrible too. Hampton does a great job managing another golf club just up the road from River Hall, but somehow their staff here is horrible. It's probably time for them to find a new director of golf. There are too many other courses of comparable quality in SWFL that you can play for the same price without being treated terribly by a rude and pretentious staff.
I don't know if the people there now are the same people you had, but the staff has always been friendly and helpful every time I've played there over the past couple of years. Probably the friendliest around as a matter of fact.
