Course is a work in progress.
Course layout is awesome. Greens have new sod. Staff is super and the food is great.
if only the course was as good as the food
The girl area was nice with really good food.
The course itself is in terrible condition. The fairways are playable, but many areas are chopped up. The greens are in horrendous condition. Most of them have large sand deposits because the grass is not growing. The greens also look as if they have been scarred by a mower and most areas. the cell look like a patchwork quilt and not a nice one with different layers of grass. It’s almost impossible to find a straight line putting to the hole. The key markers are broken and some of them aren’t even present. There are no pictures describing the shape of the hole, which would help a first time player there. all in all I would never play this course again! I was told that the greens had a virus or pestilence of some sort… Maybe that should be noted when making a reservation.

Clubhouse, great, restaurant AWESOME, staff awesome (except the manager)
This place used to be incredible and every bit worth the $$. Then it went to poop. I have played in a goat farm that exceeded these conditions. Tee boxes, crap.. carts crap.. greens are the worst I have ever played. The driving range hasn't had acceptable grass in 20 years, just that weird ground cover weed and the range balls are really bad. This course has the potential to rival the best around. Fair warning, play at your own risk. To be fair if they dropped the rate to $20 all you can play they might draw a full lot but that is only to use a 7000 yard driving range.
Good luck. I hope someone or some group takes it over and brings it back to the great conditions it used to have.

Great course/layout
Staff was probably the friendliest I’ve seen at a golf course. Everybody I met and spoke to was very nice and friendly. They have sodded a couple of greens and fairways due to the lack of rain, so conditions were not pristine. However they were very playable.

Always a Great Day at Indian River
When you start with Laurie in the Pro Shop and Fritz at the Cart Barn, their personalities make for a great day,
Where else would you start Blecke. They are great people but when its time to put a tee in the ground and its all dead and you can't putt on the greens because they are dead and covered in sand their personalities don't matter. If you recommend this course in its current condition you don't know golf or you work there.
Sad sad sad
This place should be closed until the greens are playable. There is more sand on the greens than in the sad bunkers. There was no indication that they were under maintenance. The head of the agronomy department needs a few lessons on how to grow grass. This property management company should be forced to sell it's properties and lose it's PGA status. What a shame and a waste of my money. LaCita is in better shape and that's saying something.

MOST FAIRWAYS IN POOR CONDITION.. MOST GREENS SAME AS FAIRWAYS . COURSE NEEDS SOME TENDER LOVING CARE. GREAT LAYOUT

course is in worse shape than i have ever seen! fairways and greens are shot....not sure how they will get it back to what it was without shutting it down for a good 4 to 6 month complete overhaul
He told you what to do! Shut it down for 4-6 moths and get the course playable! AND FIX THE TRASH DRIVING RANGE. Its been a horse pasture for a decade++

Course condition
Golf course was in very poor condition. Was really surprised how it has gone down hill from the last time I played it. Not sure why it has deteriorated as it has but I hope they can get it back to a playable condition. Great layout.

Course needs work
I have played this course for many of years being a local to the area. I have seen it at its best and would have friends travel to play and be excited to have them play my local course. Now I have seen it at it worse and would not recommend anyone to play it for the price till they do something with at least the greens. I will be playing elsewhere till the conditions improve.

Great layout but greens hit by fungus
I've played here many times.
The Good:
Love the layout of this courses
Very friendly and helpful staff at the pro shop
Can't beat the lunch deal.
The back 9 in much better condition.
The bad:
The greens on the front 9 were hit hard by fungus. Putting is "poke and hope". They do look like they are repairing but it will probably be a couple of months.
The fairways on the front 9 are very thin. Typically they improve during the rainy season. Back 9 was much better.
Overall, I love the layout and the staff but until the greens come back it's hard to recommend.

We were forewarned (by the pro shop staff) that the course was in bad shape due to the weather during the winter months. We went ahead & played because it was a beautiful day & we had a really inexpensive deal. The course definitely had some shakey spots (especially the greens). Quite a challenging course with lots of water & sand. We were given 2 coupons to come back in the fall. Hopefully we can do that!

A Great Day AT Indian River
Always a joy to visit with Laurie in the Pro Shop and Carlton at the cart barn.
BLECKE you are the only one holding up this courses rating. How about you tell the people about the course conditions! We understand you love the girl in the proshop and nobody ever complains about the guys working the cartbarn. We know they are great but whats not great is the management company and maintenance department. Since you love the staff so much why don't you recommend they put up a tarp over the staging area so the guys don't die from heat stroke out there!
