Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

Not what it was
Eagle Dunes used to be a very good course. It has deteriorated quite a bit with the greens as bad as I’ve ever seen.
Eagle Dunes 3.22.2025
I have played st Eagle Dunes since they have opened. Staff does a great job and they are trying their best. A few notes from our round are below:
Course is extremely dry as there has been a lack of rain in the greater Orlando area.
They seem to book tee times every 6 minutes which is very tight.
Staff tried to get golfers moving on the course, but group in front of us (threesome) was a full hole behind when we got to hole 9, a far five. No reason for this.
I will wait a while before coming back out to Eagle Dunes.
Thank you!
Called and asked if course was in good condition. Was told it was. Course really in poor condition. Need a lot of work. Good layout, just needs a lot of help.
Slow Round
It should not take 5 hors + to play a round of golf. The fairways are hard and bare. The greens are bare as well although putted okay. Sand on many greens, so Eagle Dunes is not just a clever name. It is a fun course that due to condition issues my group won't be going back anytime soon
Horrible Greens
Greens were almost unplayable. Very fast and spotty grass. A lot of white dressing applied everywhere that caused balls to bump and change direction of putt. The 25 mph winds would move putts as well. Rest of course was okay. I have rated this course a 5 in the past.
Greens are the only positive.
Greens are fast and firm. Pace of play was bad(4:45). Trying to find grass in fairways almost impossible. Bunkers were excellent. Tees were marginal. Starter was very friendly and welcoming. Maybe I will go back in another year to see if it improves
enjoyable day
greens were a little rough, but fast enough to get a somewhat true roll. ( just sanded )
gorgeous views. ( example: hole #10 tee) beautiful day.... what more could a once a week duffer ask for?
Eagle Dunes
Tried and true course. Coming back from the abyss. Course needs a few good rains. Very dry and the ground very hard. Link style and plays tough in the wind. Topography makes the course.
Bad Shape
The course was trending in the right direction but it seems like it has stopped getting better. A few of the greens were horrible and made it really hard to chip because the divots and bumps would shoot it a random direction or just stop the chip entirely. Love the layout. Hope they get the course in better shape soon.
Declined
The course has gone downhill over the last year. This is strike 2 and we will not return until conditions improve. The layout is outstanding. Love the elevation and challenge. However, the drainage and erosion are horrible. Fairways and paths are bumpy, greens were inconsistent. We drive from Orlando but will not anymore. Not worth $51 and the driver.
Not best shape
Course is in fair shape… greens were kinda bare but rolled very true. For this time of year not bad
Fun Links Style layout, just needs some love
Really enjoyed the course layout. More of an Open Links style course with nice elevation changes. Just wish they could improve the conditions. No defined rough, fairways are non descript and no real fringe around greens. Greens were decent speed but some dead spots and not well manicured. If they invested in better grounds keeping, they could charge more and Id still play it.
Needs a lot of woork
Course use to have best greens and tee boxes were very good. Now both over played, should have I’ve seeded it but must have gone the easy way. Sand traps never racked, fairways a 6 out of 10.
Snack shop closed at 3:00 pm so lost a lot of revenue. Driving range had little if any grass. Question is has management and ownership changed???
