Empire Ranch Golf Club

Course is pretty torn up right now. Fairways, approach areas, fringes and some greens are in pretty bad shape. From what I hear they had an irrigation pump failure which aide the grass to die and then when they got it working again, they had to over water due to the severe heat. The.n it looks like animals got into the turf looking for bugs and that’s resulted in lots of dug up areas and dead patches. They are working hard to fix stuff but it’s not in great shape. Luckily the greens for the most part are decent. Hope things get fixed up soon.

We frequent this course on a regular basis since it’s close to home. If it weren’t for that, not sure we would play here much. The pace of play is always an issue and the rangers don’t do anything about it. We played mid morning on a Saturday and it took almost 6 hours. We saw the ranger twice in the front who said he was hoping the pace would pick up but never saw him on the back nine. When we got to 18 there were 3 groups waiting. Crazy!

Course conditions are struggling. The bunkers are hard wet dirt and fairways are overwatered and in poor condition. Hoping they can get things turned around. Tee boxes were over seeded and long. Definitely not worth $75 IMO.

It’s been 10-12 years since I played here and was really looking forward to playing again. Carts are hammered! Brakes shot. Tee boxes are in bad shape and greens were very poor (aerated recently) course had very poor drainage, fairways torn up, mud bogs and sand traps half full of water. This used to be my go to course! Definitely need to invest some money in this place!

Greens where recently sanded which I understand, other than that great day. Love playing there.

Looks like a farm implement was used. Very large holes w sand about a 1/4 inch down. They must have an eighties piece of equipment. I’d give it 3 weeks. Unbevable amount of mud and water on the course. They over water the sheet out of the place. Every hole has a couple areas that look like a 5 ton truck drove through the mud on it. All golf balls have mud on them, some even plugged today. Greens and traps are a mess w all the water they sprinkler into them. Funny thing is, it hasn’t rained in 8 months.

Due to the extreme heat they have been over watering to keep the grass alive. As a result, there are muddy sections and some pretty chewed up spots. Luckily the greens are in pretty good shape. Some tee boxes are also covered in crab grass. Hopefully they can get things back under control but still a fun course.

Worst greens I’ve played on all year, way too soft. They were beat up! Divots and bumps all over. No consistency. Tee boxes were rough. Just overall not a well maintained course.

We had an afternoon Tee time for a very reasonable price. Checking in at the Pro shop was quick and easy, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was in excellent condition, and I have always enjoyed the layout of the course! Playing golf with my friends is always a great day, and Empire Ranch is beautiful and fun to play!

Greens tougher than usual. Seems like lots of players not tendon to the greens. Greens may also need to be rolled.

Pace of play was not enforced. I love seeing young golfers in the course but I suggest that before letting them loose in the course by themselves, they should learn and be taught proper golf etiquettes. I was finishing 9th hole by myself, single, with a cart when I noticed two young girls walking towards the 10th tee. A player with proper etiquette would not jump in front of a single player in a cart. These two young girls, walking, clearly beginners (their drives did not go past 150 yards), just get on with their business, oblivious of what’s happening behind them. Clearly they felt entitled just like many children nowadays.

Not enough shade trees. Will never go back in the summer. Bunkers were terrible.

The bunkers shouldn’t have standing water in the middle of July.
