Major issue with the course yesterday
Everything was as good as can be expected however there was one major flaw that couldn't be ignored.
the pin placement on hole #3 was put in an impossible position. It was placed on the downside and at the side of a slope and if you missed the putt, you invariably would have another at least 7-10 foot putt.
Straight and Narrow
This is a beautiful course with well kept fairways and greens, if you overlook the several downed trees from recent storms. So many bunkers. I’ve never spent so much time in the sandbox!
The narrow fairways make for challenging play. Great day of golf!
Course condition
Too many leaves on the course,hard to find balls. Also fairways has a lot of uneven patch. Not very well maintained. Not very accommodating staff.
wet winter conditions
too near to past weeks rain storms. a bit muddy on fairways but greens in great shape. sand traps some full of water can't find my ball.
What happened?
Ancil Hoffman is my favorite course in town and I play it often. It hasn’t rained in months and we’re in a drought. This last round we played lift, clean and place because the course is a muddy mess. Why is the course so overwatered? I rarely see the course this wet in the middle of winter.
It’s a great course but I would not recommend it until they fix the irrigation problem
Ancil Hoffman has been and still is a great course.
Trees
Narrow fairways lined with test, greens started but should be good by mid October
Greens still bumpy after being punched two weeks prior
Course is in very good condition. Other than the greens were a little bit bumpy, more than I expected after two weeks. Should be good in another week or so.
