Fun and fair course for all levels.
The greens had just been punched so putting as with all courses at this time of year aren't places to work on putting. The course overall was in really good shape and typically the greens are very good and on the faster side so should be really good in a few weeks. Staff is pretty good and friendly there.
Could have been nice
I usually enjoy playing Empire Ranch. My complaint and reason for the poor rating is on Monday prior to booking my foursome I asked if plans to punch the greens took place. I was told no because of the wet weather. On Wed. I called to ask if carts were being allowed on the course and how the course shape was. I was told all was good. We show up Thursday and find that the greens were punched the day before.
We're sorry for the miscommunication about the aerification process. We are at the mercy of mother nature! Please email me directly at empireranchgolf@gmail.com so we can get more information.
Great shape Great Course
Course is in terrific shape, loved it
Thanks for the great review! Hope to see you soon.
Finally a positive experience
3rd time playing this course even though I vowed never to go back after the 2nd experience. My two prior experiences were SLOW. This course unfortunately does not empower its marshals. Therefore play gets slow. This time however proved to move right along. Of course, it did rain a bit which kept most players away. The course was in pretty good conditions (greens were great).
I really enjoy the course layout and therefore I suppose I will give it ONE more chance in good weather.
FINGERS CROSSED
Thanks for the review, we are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your round here at Empire Ranch Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon for your next round!
Quick greens and lots of wind
The linksfeel is true in the sense that wind really affects your game. On some holes it was 2 clubs up or down depending on wind direction. Lots of water and sometime the ball just vaporized after a you saw it land...
Greens were fast, even though they looked slow to me... Very hard to get into my head and ended up doing over 40 puts... But I like challenges! On some of the holes There were many bunkers and the sand could have been softer. Now I did three hard lip shots that somehow cleared it and one 5 wood shot that was probably the best bunker shot of the day.
Perfect fairways, perfect bunkers, fantastic greens, great golf course!
I wish I have a house near to the course, so I could play there every other day!
Hits on all cylindars
Good, creative layout. Fantastic greens. Friendly staff. Decent rate. Tough to be a golf experience like this one. Might be a tad pricey for some, but is a good value given the high quality of the course.
my round at empire ranch
we played in the afternoon and the pace of play was great. we finished in 3 1/2 hrs. the coarse was in ok shape considering the drought the greens were in good shape
Another great day at Empire Ranch.
Course was in great shape, staff was awesome as usual, a little slow on the front nine behind a foursome but they let us play thru on the turn and smooth sailing to the end.
Nice course
We were a 2 some then paired up with 2 very nice gentlemen. The course was in great condition
We played in 4 hours.
The course has several very challenging holes but is fun to play.
Overall a very nice experience.
Great greens
I played this course many times would recommend it to anybody great value ! 18 is the bomb !!!
Not again....
The course is not to bad. In great shape for the horrible drought going on right now in this part of the country. The greens are in great shape, but when you have golfers in t-shirts, yes t-shirts and jean shorts playing you can bet they aren't going to fix ball marks or do anything else to take care of the course. The greens are covered in old ball marks. At times my ball jumped around from them when I was putting. Pace....awful! Played the front nine in an hour and a half, back nine in 2.5 hours. Staff is somewhat friendly, but you can tell it's more about packing the course full of golfers, and not the kind of golfers you hope to attract, then providing a quality round with quality service. I won't be back.
The ball marks are really bad and it doesn't help that maintenance mows the greens without attempting to fix the marks first.
Empire Ranch did aerify on 8/19/15 so perhaps the greens will be in better shape in September.
nice layout
Empire was in great shape, especially the rough and greens. very little ground under repair, Starter very customer oriented. Got me on a half hour earlier.
Great even in the drought!
I found a hot deal for 17$ and would have paid more. The course is fast, but still green. The greens were smooth and quick, and played more true than most courses in the area. They have it set up so you aren't trampling the rough in your cart and can still drive in fairways. They've cut back watering which I like to see! My one recommendation is where a big hat and sunscreen, not much shade up there!
The Hills at Empire
Set in the beginning of the foothills, the course turns and winds thru canyons and valleys. Now surrounded by homes but lots of cattail wetlands and water. Accuracy is a must. Get wide and ball is lost. Many holes turn around corners and fairway is blocked. Follow the yardage posts to be safe. Elevated tee boxes frequent, especially the 18th!! WOW! 195yds of pure terror! Lot of side hill lies but fairways and greens kept pristine.
Not worth $60
Course is in good shape. Greens are fast, grass is mown... However, given the golf your can play in Sacramento/Roseville/Rocklin, Empire Ranch is a monumental waste of money for $60. I would never recommend someone play this over Dark Horse, the Ridge, Woodcreek, Diamond Oaks, or many other options in the area. For half the cost, those are a much better value.
Great weekday course
Played fast with no one in front or back all afternoon on a Wednesday,,,,great Golf Now bargain price. Course in great shape.
Very Comfortable and High Quality
I play this course about twice a month, more in the summer and have done so for about a year and half. While not a member or yearly subscriber, the entire staff treat me as if I am. Never had a single negative incident. The quality of the course is excellent, particularly given the number of rounds played on it. I normally play as a single and have been paired with others except for one time late in the day. And never had a problem getting a start time with an hour and a half of when when i wanted. The course equipment is well maintained, carts are clean and prepped.
Course if good, but greens still recovering for aerating
Course was in good condition. Greens need at least another week to recover from recent aeration. There were not many true rolls.
Fun course
Make sure you know where the hazards are. Wind can make a club or two difference on some holes. 18 plays pretty true to yardage despite the downhill green. Take at least an extra club if you have headwind or if it's getting late and the air is heavy. Greens are fast if they are in good condition.
Thanks for the review! We hope to see you again after the greens heal for a great round!
