Empire Ranch Golf Club

I've played this course several times. I enjoyed playing as it's always been well maintained and a fun course to play.

Although this time, the course was in the worst shape I have ever experienced. It was extremely wet and many of the fairways were torn-up due to the amount of water. The cart was skidding and got stuck in over-water fairways several times during the round. Another sure sign the course is not being well maintained was unsightly crabgrass in many of the fairways and shoulder areas. The tee boxes had divots, greens were slow and pocked with ball marks that were un-repaired.

Hopefully, management does something to address these issues, or they could be pushing customers to look for greener pastures. I hope not.

The staff was very friendly and informative the course was in great shape and the pace of play was the best I’ve experienced in a good while if I remember correctly playied it in a 4some in just under four hours.

Overall, the course was in great shape. Rough was cut low and weeds had been cut back extensively allowing wayward balls to be found easier (playing partner was a bit wild, lol). Pace of play is very slow at the course because no marshals police the pace, which is unfortunate. Some twosomes and a foursome in front of us were playing very slow (20 minutes a hole in some cases).

Clubhouse kitchen is average at best, and the course should have the kitchen phone number posted after 7 and 8 so that people can call in orders without slowing pace of play even more.

The last time I played here was around 2006?. I always enjoyed the course, fun layout, some homes play much longer due to wind directions. Overall had a great time, played with someone who was from my hometown and about the same age so 18 holes of reminiscing. :)

Tee boxes were in good shape, fairways were a day overdue for a haircut so played longer and most greens rolled nicely. A little inconsistent in speed and the break are very subtle. 2-3 homes had a few interesting pin placements. Played in bout 4 hours so no complaints, I remember it being slow on the weekends. I would definitely come back and look forward to the next round.

The traps were awful. Hardly any sand and hard soil. some traps were filled with water.

Great course and fun to play but the driving range and practice green are always packed. It seems that locals come over just to practice but there are so many it is sometimes hard to warm up parts of your game due to so many people all the time.

Pace of play was most excellent, finished 18 in 4 hours. Course in ok condition considering the extreme temps.

Fun track, great staff in the pro shop, and if you got an extra few, Josh and Matt in the grill maybe the best in Sacramento area.

There was a tournament playing in front of us Wildhawk vs Empire Ranch slow play no Marshall around took 5 1/2hr to play ridiculous.

Nice course. Lots more f activity. Driving range was packed prior to round. Staff was very friendly. Round with foursome completed in just over four hours. Course is in excellent shape for our area, because it is getting hot. Greens roll true, and have quite a bit of slope. Had a great time and will definitely come back.

Tee boxes, fairways, greens = decent

Bunkers are horrible, hard pan.

Pace of play = miserably slow. I have not finished my last three out of four rounds there.

Greens and fairways excellent, Sand traps some had water/mud poor .
