About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Full 18 just before Sunset
Staff was helpful from the pro shop to the 1st North tee-box!
Played a heck of a solo off their good vibes.
I would have loved some company to enjoy the tranquility and over all great setting.
Greens played firm
Fairways and even rough often generous
Shot a 83 with a par finish into the sunset! One of my more memorable rounds in some time
Unacceptable conditions
For the amount that one pays for fees at this course, the conditions are criminal. The fairways are not mowed and the rough is 4 to 5 inches deep in most places which indicates neglect. Greens are the only thing that was well maintained but almost all of the bunkers were woefully inadequate. It seems to me that the revenue from the fees are invested into the north course where the conditions are excellent. I would not recommend this course unless you are a beginner in playing golf.
Nice course
I would recommend Foxtail north. Fun course with lots of bunkering. Fairways and rough are very fair. Traps are in ok shape however not consistent. Greens are smooth and very fast.
First time playing the course in ~15yrs since being called Mountain Shadows. Lots of upgrades since changing hands including a very nice practice facility.
Would play there again.
Foxtail South June 2024
Greens were very good. Sand needs major work. Fairways were fair. The pace of play was ridiculously slow. It took us an hour to play the first 3 holes. We quit after 9.
Good golf course.
The round atarted foggy in early morning. Golf Course made me do my best shots. Challenge was real. Flat course, needed to use some course management. Carded 3 birdies on the back nine was not bad at all.
Last minute decision.
My only complaint would be the bunkers. They are a mixture of sand and dirt and they are like concrete. You really can’t play a normal sand shot.
Greens were nice and fast, though peppered with un-repaired ball marks. Pace of play was right on. 4 1/4 hours. Felt slightly pressured by the threesome behind us, but they were polite, friendly, and never hit into us.
Will play again.
South course
Pace of play was good and greens were in good condition. Unfortunately, most of the bunkers were unplayable due to standing water or otherwise very wet sand.
