Fun layout; wide fairways; sloppy greens
Each hole has it's own character. Greens were a little on the slow side, but has a lot of slopes, making them fun and challenging. Pace of play can be slow because it is a 9-hole course, and most golfers are playing 18 holes. So there are various groups going off the 1st tee; either the 1st nine, or making the turn starting the 2nd nine. This can really slow down your round, and change the rhythm to your golf outing.
Landing areas on fairways are extremely wide (100-125 yards wide on some holes). Yet the course is enjoyable with a very good layout. I didn't care for raised cups above the putting surface for Covid-19 conditions--would have preferred the shallow cup method instead. Lucky to pick a day when the wind was calm. It can be a very windy course, making it more challenging.
Nice Fun Layout; Excellent Slope on Greens
Played during COVID-19 conditions. The greens on the course were a little on the slow side. The cups on the greens were raised above the putting surface. I would have preferred that they use other methods like having shallow holes/cups where the cups are upside down, or having a sponge in a normal depth hole to more easily retrieve touch points in the hole. Thus, putting was too easy due to the raised cups and the slow greens. Course layout is fun and the course is in good shape. Being a 9-hole course, playing 18 holes can be problematic and slow when having to wait to get off the tee for the 2nd 9-holes. It would be nice to have a volunteer 1st tee greeter/starter to organize and priortize groupings. Too many twosomes on the course, slowing pace of play. If greens were firm and fast, it would be very demanding on the greens, as there is a lot of severe, challenging slopes on the greens. The landing areas in the fairways are EXTREMELY wide, so errant, misdirection shots are not penalized. Maybe a little too wide.
Ok little course
I found this course on Golf Now. I looked for 18 holes and 1 player tee times and this course pop's up on available tee times. Picked the course since I never played it. Drove 45 minutes to get there and once i got to the course, found out it was a 9 hole course that you have to play twice for 18. Was disappointed to say the least. Would not have driven that far to play a 9 hole course. Course is ok, decent layout and played fast because no one was there. Ok if you live in Woodland and want to get in a quick 9 but not worth the drive from Sacramento.
Getting out of the house!
Wild Wings golf course is always a nice course with excellent greens for your putting enjoyment. Sometimes it can get slow an obnoxious when the course does not have a Marshall to keep the pace going. Some golfers are rude and inconsiderate which makes me not want to return. But I will probably go back anyways.
the course was in pristine condition. the fairways were in great condition, mowed and could be used as temporary greens. great job. the greens were as good as any. going back again and again and again.
Glad they bare back!
I played this course several years ago, issues with the course owners and home owners association were reflected in the poor playing conditions. This course is now in excellent condition. Staff was awesome and friendly, overall a great experience. You can truly tell that the greens keeper and his staff have a passion for what they are doing and it shows. I’ll be back soon and will surly recommend this course to others .
A nice find in Yolo County
I was able to find an open course within an hour drive that I'll definitely revisit. Easily accessible about 8 minutes off of I-505, well maintained, quiet, and with a genuinely helpful and friendly staff.
PROS:
- distance was challenging off the blue tees (for a 55 yr. old, 10+ handicapper)
- well maintained, bunkers recently upgraded
- good value for the money
- friendly and welcoming (even during a pandemic !)
CONS:
- it's 9 holes, so you play 2x and you just kind of wait your turn in cue when you restart at 1
- water hazards were dry and/or stagnant
Enjoying a sunny day
Wild Wings plays perfect for my wide open golf game. The fairways are wide and forgiving but still can be a challenge, I love their greens because the roll is true.
We did not golfing today because the wind was over 30 mild per hour.we are over 75 years old .Can we cancel and booking another day?
Windy, but played great!
Greens and fairways in great condition! Rough was tournament-esque, lost two balls in play but rough swallowed them.
Good Hot Deal
Dry spots here and there throughout the course but to be expected with lack of rain in February. Greens were well kept and bunkers were maintained with real sand. Definitely a good course to work on your game. Yellow pins for front 9 and Green pins for back 9.
Wild Wings - a good practice course
I’ve played Wild Wings many times.
I like it because, being only a 9 hole course (a full 9, not an Executive 9), it gives me the opportunity to get out and play, when my time is tight.
It has a decent easy to play layout.
Right now, the fairways are drying out - no rain in the last 3 weeks, so your ball runs a long way after it lands.
GOLF NOW MISTAKE
ARRIVED AT COURSE BUT GOLF NOW HAD NOT NOTIFIED THE COURSE. HAD TO SHOW THE CONFIRMATION.
Horrible condition
Nothing about this course was good! Everything was in horrible condition.
Wild Wings
Nice course nestled in a neighborhood community. Can easily get backed up on the course with a mixture of cart and walking golfers. Good course for the money.
Fun little track
Played here for the first time with my teenage daughter. We had a fun time, quick round in 3 1/2 hours. Course needs a little TLC but for late November we didn’t complain at all. We’ll be back
The course is looking good!
I’ve played this course a lot.
The fairways are well maintained and the greens are in a great condition.
It is a 9 hole course but it is definitely not an executive 9 course.
I like the course.
