Blotchy greens and hard-pack bunkers
I play the valley and tournament courses at coyote Creek quite often. Until recently, the greens have been in excellent condition. However, they have become very blotchy and the ball is not rolling true. In addition, many of the bunkers have become hard pack with no fluff to the sand.
Won't be back for a while...
I've played the Valley course a half dozen times in the last year, and have always enjoyed the course. I last played it in June, and was disappointed in the 4.5 hour round, despite the good course condition and reasonable price ($35). However, I left after 9 holes during my most recent round after it took 2.5 hours. Waiting on every tee box, standing in every fairway, without a marshal in sight. I did see the cart girl about 5 times, so maybe they're more concerned with beer sales than pace of play. I had been considering a membership here, but I won't be paying money to stand around in the sun at Coyote Creek anytime soon.
Carts
GREAT COURSE. Just know that the Valley course does not allow carts unless you’re a member. And they don’t usually have push carts available so you have to carry your bag for 18 holes. BUT great course!
Walking Only but set up for Carts only
Course was walking only due to COVID restrictions and that was totally fine. The problem was the course layout makes no sense to the walking golfer. Signage is all along the cart paths and the tee box right off the green is rarely your next hole. I waited for 10 minutes on a tee box for the group in front to clear before realizing I was on the wrong hole. Learned I had to walk along cart paths to see signs of where the next hole was frequently passing another tee box to get to my hole. Probably walked an extra mile or so just getting between holes. The course itself I knew was very flat and a friendly entry level course. For the price it was exactly what I expected and had no complaints. It’s nothing special but a good option to go out and play and not spend a ton. I would likely play this more often if the routing was set up for walking but I don’t want to walk a course that is clearly routed for carts. There are other options during this time that I’ll frequent while restrictions are in place. May come back after things return to normal. Played at 5:15pm and pace of play was brisk as a result. Can’t really comment on earlier in the day but my experience of pace of play on the Tournament course makes me skeptical
Slowwwww
Usually not slow, but it was a 5 1/2 hour round today. Greens were good, fairways were dried out
No carts available to the public
I was told no carts available to the public because of the pandemic funny how the same carts are mandatory on the tournament course where the green fees are30$ more but you can't walk ...have to ride ...get your staff on the same your place is barely worth 25 $ ...,Az golfer
Good Course
Had to walk the course because they are using the carts for members and the tournament course which wasn't the issue. The hole layouts are pretty confusing at times and the signage could be vastly improved to help. Overall the course was in very good condition but the pace of play was very slow for a Thursday morning and some members keep cutting around to to different holes which I'm assuming had something to do with it. I prefer the Tournament course much better. The valley just isn't very good in my opinion. That being said it was pretty good value.
Cool
It was great to play. I just wish they aloud carts.
Greens need work
Course can be so nice and fair to lpay, but they've really let a.number of the greens go. The are marked, bumpy and inconsistent. Not sure why they've cheapened out. The place is packed and should more than justify the extra care needed to make them better.
unable to play
Was unable to play. Pro shop informed me would not rent me cart for the Valley Course, which I booked for. They rent only on other course. Not able to rent cart online. Was unaware of this until arrived, traveling 30 miles. With knee issue was unable to walk, so left without playing, loosing green fee. No offer to refund or rebook. Was angry and disappointed.
Pace of play horrible, staff mediocre.
Second week in a row that the pace of play was an issue. Had to skip a hole to pass a group two weeks ago, and last week the incredibly slow 5some in front of us wouldn't let us play through. There was a man "coaching" his daughters, by basically playing the round with them for free, along with the other twosome. He was encouraging his daughters to play 2 and sometimes 3 balls on a hole. There were two empty holes in front of them, but i was fed up with skipping holes to accommodate slow players. We talked to the Marshall 4 times. He tried to bs us and say that there were groups on the holes in front of the slow group. The problem with that is that you can see the empty holes ahead. We finally had to yell at the girls about playing, when they decided to tee up their third balls on a par three while we were waiting on the tee behind them. Talked to the marshal again, he did nothing... he was being non confrontational and probably just scoots around the course, for free golf. Disappointed, will not be going back. Apparently they are also not allowing carts on the valley course, but have like 2 push carts for rent. This place is a disaster right now, San Jose Muni is an honest better option at this point.
