Renovation is complete. Changes are good.
Coyote Creek has been going through some changes lately. They are changing the structure of both the membership (semi-private to tournament couse and public to the valley course) and renovation of the bunkers of both golf courses . Both courses are good and they have been known more as the "player" courses because they are long, tough, and playing conditions are tough with wind usually 10-20 mph.
The changes of late are mainly to the bunkers to make the course easier and more playable. Before the bunkers were not getting much attention and were more like hardpan waste bunkers. Now the bunkers all have fresh sand and made quite a few of them are smaller. The changes are good and make the course better but layout is still the same.
Condition of the course is very good and probably in one of the best conditions I have seen. I have played dozens of rounds there over the years.
Facilities are very good and practice facilities are one the best in the area with the grass range and pitching green being a rare commodity.
Be ready for some wind 10-20 mph if playing in the afternoon.
Impeccable condition
Fairways beautiful, greens slick, bunkers heavenly. Can't say enough good things about the condition of the valley course right now. Will be visiting again really soon. Thank you to the grounds crews who are working tirelessly to keep the course in such beautiful condition. You guys are doing a fantastic job!
Coyote creek...
Not sure it's worth the drive from SF. It's not bad, but for 1.5 hrs drive, east bay has nicer courses
We were fortunate it wasn't windy on the day of play
Confidence Booster
NIce track with friendly fairways yet still very challenging
Great features
First but now not the last time I'll play here. Hit a great online rate and was very happy with course condition. Challenging layout but rewards good shots
Minor Renovations
First time playing after they re-did the course - seems all the work was changing size, location, and sand of traps. Only layout change I noticed was removal of #9 fairway waste area.
Still like the track, but the rack rates are ridiculous.
Outstanding
Left my wallet at the snack bar w over $200 in it, pro shop had it untouched.
Greens, fairways, everything about the course in great shape, good people, golf-loving staff, great day
Long and repetitive
I've driven by the valley course dozens of times and finally played. Got a great rate through GolfNow. We played as a twosome and had a very fun day. I am a 10 index and found the course long and a bit repetitive. My second shot to many of the holes, from the white tees, was close to or over 200 yards. The greens were interesting and in very nice condition. Many of the holes looked like many of the holes. There were maybe 6 or so with individuality. Brand new white sand that makes bunker play very good, and provides visual interest. There are a couple of forced carries for long second shots that were layups for me.
Good course, many tees
Only down side is quality of beverage cart food, excellent service, but hot food undercooked
pace of play
Excellent, no waiting 18 holes in under 4 hours. Played at our pace no being pushed. Golfers and staff on course very courteous and respectful of fellow golfers.
Valley Course in Great Condition
Everything from the grass driving range, customer service at Pro Shop, Starters and Marshall and the food was excellent. I especially like this course for a fast pace of play and condition of fairway and greens. High, thick grass in the rough makes things challenging along with the bunker placement. The course if not too difficult but not too easy. In addition, the course has easy access from Hwy 101.
In shape, bad bunkers, getting an overhaul soon...
I loved the tournament course which I somehow ended up on that course by accident. Ended up paired with Sam, a 2 handicap which was good fun and two ladies joined us after ten holes and we finished 18 with them. Not bad for a 20 dollar hot deal/ with a cart.
I had fun playing this course from the black tees, as it presented challenging shots and risk/rewards on every hole, with a few chances to get home on the par fives, and lots of driver holes.
Bunkers need work and it really derailed my round every time I got in a bunker because I would blade it out. They are really hardpan bunkers...just chip it out I guess until the renovation.
Hot dog at turn is convenient and was good and a big beer was refreshing at around 12 dollars total before tip.
Course in wonderful shape other than bunkers.
Highway traffic is sometime annoying so I thought that course could plan more trees blocking highway noise.
I'll be back.
Added Challenge
It was very windy the day I played, this added an extra level of difficulty to most of the holes. Course has some very interesting holes, rough and traps need some attention. Overall it was an enjoyable day of golf.
Be careful and pack a lunch
Plays smoothly but the only problem we had was when we got to the turn all the food was practically gone which I would view as poor ordering processes or poor food management. Also you had to be careful with the ground that was not fairway due to numerous ground under repair. Do not use a yellow ball even though its great from the fairway it truly was hard to find as the ground and some rough was yellow also.
saved the day
My playing companions driver came apart on the course. The marshall was approached with a request to help us out. He came back with a brand new Taylormade R15. My buddy handed him his ID and we got to finish the round. That's what I call great service.
Nice course with well maintained greens and fairways
This is a well maintained course. Best for beginners and high handicapped players as the course is flat and wide, but still challenging enough for intermediate level players.
convient location
good pace of play, good weather, friendly people, great value.
Course good for intermediate
Course was in Good condition. A few wet spots. Greens a little slow. Enjoyed the round
Scenic by Foothills
It's off season but Coyotee is a good challeng for an experience player. It brings ball positioning and thought processing I to play. I am expecting friends to visit and I will show them one of the better courses in San Jose !
Not Bad
I've played other courses in the area that were more challenging . This course is for the most part flat with little in the way of hazards. The condition of the course was good, the greens were in very good shape and pretty fast, the way I like them, and somewhat consistent. I played 36 holes, in the morning round the pace of play was excellent. The afternoon round pace of play was poor. I didn't see one marshal after the 5th hole. We had a foursome in front of us that held up the whole course, at least 3 holes behind
