This course has great greens!
It's been years since I last played this course. Best greens I've played in the area. Nice wide open fairways. Definitely one of my favorite for the price.
Valley Course
Kind of a convoluted layout. If you like to walk you will get frustrated by the distance between tee boxes. There are a couple of interesting holes but many are pretty straight forward. Greens are in fantastic shape.
It has been years
since I have played here, and since I have moved out of the area, I found course in great shape fairways and greens.. Very playable and fair....
Vacation Golf
This is a very nice course for any level of player. It is more of a locals courses but was paired up with some very nice golers.
Need Breakfast
The only thing really I have a recommendation for is, have breakfast burritos available before 9:00 a.m. Tee times before 9:00 a.m. You are on your own. Snack shack does not open until 9:00. However manager at first tee let the food cart know out cart number and she came to us a couple hours later with burritos. Thanks.

First time playing this course. Course layout is great especially for a hacker like me. Did not run into any trouble. Fairways were in good condition, rough was thick, greens were fast, hole placement was challenging on some holes. All around myself and playing partner had a great time. Staff was friendly, "beer cart" was accessible and friendly. Would recommend for all playing capabilities.
Good Layout
Nice course layout that offers a challenge to any skill of golfer. Valley course though needs some TLC done to it. Lots of big bare spots where the rough should be. The sand traps are in horrific shape, like hitting off of the cart path! With the bunkers strategically placed where some if not most of tee shots end up in them you would think that the course would take better care of them. Greens were really nice and firm, the type that if you go at the pin on approach shots the ball ends up on the back or in the rough. Overall not worth the $80 it cost me to play there, more like a $45 to $50 course.
Pay the extra $$ & play the tournament course
Have played the tournament course a few times (2-3 years ago) and it was in excellent condition with a lot of interesting/challenging golf holes. I knew the valley course had some holes left over from the old Riverside course, but with the exception of 3-4 holes, it was one of the most boring courses I've ever played. Due to the drought they are not able to cut the grass as short as they used to (compared to the tournament course)on the fairways, tees & greens.
Better selections of course out there!
quite a challenge for a 15 handicap
blue tee will be quite challenge for mid-handicap. With the wind as a factor, some par-4 holes look like par-5, especially where hazard around the green.
Fun course to play for moderate skilled players
I like most the short game practice range.. staff at check in very nice and helpful. If you keep your ball in play its a fun course..Greens are in better shape than previously..I hope they'll keep them thus. It all made for a nice afternonon.
Wide Open
Good challenge, especially from the back tees. Couple of young bucks were paired with me…..big hitters….to the other fairways….caused time to drag.
Off fairway conditions were dry…..but course was good. Greens a little hairy, however, recently sanded and was a bit overgrown, but I'm sure they will be much better within the week.
Nice and convenient
Used golfnow on Fri. for a 9:10 a.m. Time on Sunday. Paired up with a nice local couple. Rough was long & tough. Greens all multi-sloped & a little bumpy. Overall a good option when passing thru as we were.
Coyote Creek - Valley Course
The course was in Ok condition. The greens were good but the fairways have a surprising number of sketchy spots, especially for a course that markets itself a bit on the higher end. I play both courses a few times year. I generally don't play unless I find a deal on Golfnow.
Pace of play could have been much faster. Not necessarily a knock on the course, but slow groups never seem to know or inclined to let much faster groups play through. Didn't see any marshals on the course the entire time or a starter on the first tee, which was the start of the slow down for my twosome. Pulled up to the first tee ahead of schedule. The threesome in front was already late getting off the tee and then proceeded to not even reach the fairway on their tee shots. They saw my twosome pull up before teeing off and we were behind them the entire time. Took them four holes to finally let us play through even though we were always right behind them waiting the entire time.
Fun day
Overall it is a good layout. Not your typical Nicholas course as far as being in an upscale condition. But then it didn't cost what an upscale Nicholas course charges. In their defense the drought is definitely a factor. The only real complaint is the condition of the bunkers, and that has nothing to do with the drought. All said it is a decent course and would play again.
Beautiful yet featureless
Coyote Creek has two courses: Tournament and Valley. I'd played the Tournament course before, which I found to be very challenging. It was scenic, and offered a variety of holes and terrains.
By contrast, the Valley course is quite plain. So much so that in many holes, we felt we were playing it 'again' and had to double check that we hadn't gone off to the wrong hole. That was another annoying feature of the Valley course - you are zig-zagging all over the place and it wasn't always easy to know how to get to the next hole.
I would play again, but definitely opt for the Tournament course.
Good Fairways and Greens. Terrible Bunkers
It was a Saturday. The cost to play on a Saturday is $85. You would think that the bunkers would be in good shape, but they were absolutely terrible. Virtually every bunker on the Valley Course was hard as a rock, unraked, ungroomed hard pan. It's not very fun trying to get out of a bunker in that kind of shape. Clearly the Coyote Creek greens keepers and staff puts no care into the quality of their bunkers. Especially for an $85 cost per round. How much effort does it take to ensure bunkers are at least in reasonable shape?
Typical Nicklaus greens
Somewhat typical style for a Nicklaus layout.....Everything in front of you, with several greens lacking depth, so club selection a premium....disappointed with slow greens, and the conditions not great, but the drought here a contributor....staff and facility top notch....course is quite flat, and I'd play others before returning...a windy place for sure...played in early AM and was windy from the start.....
Coyote Creek Valley Course
Except for the 101 freeway buzzing you for a few holes on the backside the course has great features. Fairways are wide, greens are fun (but had just been sanded (overseeded), so they were slow but challenging. I'll go back in a heart beat.
This course needs work on its sand traps
Greens had been recently aerated ... some muddy spots .... sand traps were not sand traps ....
