About
Haggin Oaks boasts two championship golf courses, the Alister MacKenzie Course and the Arcade Creek Course. Designed by the legendary architect known most famously for Augusta National, the Alister MacKenzie Course has a classic but formidable design. The front nine is more open while the back nine is characterized by the stately oaks that line the fairways. The greens are small by modern standards and they play lightning fast. There isn't much water but the Arcade Creek does appear on five holes. The main challenges on this golf course stem from the heavily bunkered greens, which demand accurate shot making and putting. The par-3 16th is the course's signature. A massive oak tree stands to the right of the green and on the other side is the creek, which then wraps around the back. The green also has three distinct sections and if you're not on the right one, you could be facing a dreaded three-putt.

Nice
Pace of play made round a little tough. Foursome two groups ahead was overly deliberate. Marshal spoke to them to no avail.
After waiting 15 minutes on 16 tee box, we bagged it and headed to the cart barn. At that point 5 hrs got us through 15 holes...not good.
Most surreal golf experience
There was a police shoot out with some hardcore car theft criminals right next to the course. We were on the driving range when it started, lots of gunshots. We decided to play anyway and were the only ones on the course. The hotel where the battle took place was locked down until 7 pm. There were helicopters circling overhead the whole time and at one point close to 100 SWAT team members at the course. It got too weird and we left after 15 holes.
Great course
Pace of place was great, even though we were backed up on a the back nine, we managed a four hour round at super Twilight. Course setup as nice for my handicap.
Fun course great pro shop.
Great course for practicing and a large pro shop for all your golf needs. The course was fun to play with a variety of hazards.
Great round
I hadn't played there in a few years. They're watering it for the hot weather and fairways and greens in excellent shape. Great golf, good food and amazing golf shops.
SATURDAY
There was a HUGE golf equipment sale going on. The Course was booked out for the whole day. pace of play was a little slow but considering tee times were about 4 minutes apart when I was scheduled to go off, things went somewhat okay. Still amazed by all the Turkeys everywhere in Sacramento. Course was in really good shape for how busy the place is.
Alister McKenzie, it's a good place to golf.
The course was in good shape. The greens are true, the fairways are cut perfectly, and the bunkers were good too.
The superstore is the best!

Ho hum
Was a little disappointed with the entire round. Very busy, with not that much excitement. Pretty basic course. The staff was great. Very friendly place to visit and tour the golf shop, but I wouldn't want to play another round here.
Great Mackenzie Course
If you appreciate golf course architecture and be ok with not great upkeep then this course is pretty terrific.
Post Storm
I played this course just after a strong storm came through the area dropping lots of rain and felling several trees. Course drained well, greens were fast but a few balls plugged in the fairways. Not surprising given the massive amount of rain. Looking forward to playing again when things have dried out a bit.
Great shape considering weather
Found $18 with a cart deal on GolfNow that I could not refuse. Steady rain 24 hours before my round. Course was in great shape in spite of the weather. Cart path only but still played in under 3 hours.
Old School
This is a prime example of classic golf architecture and how it stands the test of time. MC Kenzie did a masterful job with the greens complexes here. Many munis are like playing in a shooting gallery ---not here This is a great course, great amenities and super staff PLAY IT next time you are in the Sacramento area
Worth thr money
Hadn't played this course in over 2 years. Been raining so I got the itch to get out and play. The course was in pretty good shape for the amount of rain we had. The fairways were in very good shape, rough was about right, sand traps could use some work and the greens were just too wet from the rain. They rolled them but just too bumpy and the foot traffic didn't help. Probably could have knocked off about 5 strokes with better running greens. Overall I liked the course and will play it again. I have to say that I went out as a single at 3:30 and played the first 9 in a little over an hour. Teamed up with another gentleman to play the last 9 and got in just as the sun went down. Got a very nice deal on golfnow.
Greens Aerated
Single player matched with a great 3some. The greens had been aerated previously and growing out. No warning when I checked in. Was a day of pick it up, no more than 2 putts scored on card. Heavy celebration when making a putt of 5 or more. Still, a nice wide open layout and maybe next time a better rating for this course with improved greens.
Challenging course from the back tees
Great pace of play, finished 18 in 3.5 hrs w/ my child playing too.
