About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Traps
Overall a really good experience. Given we’ve had a lot of rain recently, I felt like the course was in as good of shape as you could expect given what you pay. The sand traps definitely needed some serious attention though. I will be back, hopefully soon.

Good value and conditions!
Alot of time and effort has gone into improvements in the course condition and it shows. Under $60 it's well worth it but if you have to pay more than that i would say there is lots if competition to play elsewhere.

Course in good shape
A nice surprise. Though it was cart path only due to overnight rain, the course was in very nice shape. Would definitely play again. Challenging but not too difficult from the front tees. Not too many homes on the course.

Great for the price, friendly staff!
Had a blast here. Fairways are forgiving. Course was very well kept, and our carts were brand new. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

I'll go again...
First time playing HH Lakes. Very relaxing day of golf. Hardly any trouble off the tee, fairways are wide. Greens are big bit with a lot of undulations. Course was in good/very good shape, greens were mostly recovered from seasonal aerating . Not sure that the course rating accurately represents the course difficulty - the rating suggested to me that the course would be more difficult than I actually experienced. Since it was my first visit, I played from the White tees, will play from the Blues next time. Maybe the tee boxes were pushed forward? Anyway, will visit again!

Very wide open. 1st time playing this course and loved it. The staff was very friendly and the layout was great. Amazing scenery. Will definitely be playing this course again in the near future.

Course review
Greens were dyed/spray painted. Decent shape- not great. Fairways ok, but quite a lot of burnt out sections. Fairly open course. Back nine is much more scenic and challenging. Honestly - expected more.

Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes May 20,2022
The course itself was in decent condition, not $75 dollar conditions. The layout was a fun course, greens were very firm couldn’t hold even a wedge in. Pin placement was ridiculous, inches from fringe and on absurd undulations. Was rushed on 17 and 18 because cart manager/ marshal “wanted to go home”. Overall would not recommend unless price drops or conditions rise.

Average. Some maintenance issues.
This is a nice course with a friendly staff. My only issue was the sand traps. There were many, and it was like hitting the ball through clay. Frankly, I’m no expert sand trap maintenance, so I don’t know what you do to dry them out or fluff them up, but these were really bad.
Overall, we had a nice round, other than this issue.

Great golf course
Our only disappointment today was the fact the bar/pub was closed for the day. It's nice they gave them the day off on Mothers day, but could not even get water or any drinks all day (except vending maching on 12th hole.)

The Lakes
Grasses were just greening up, pace of play was just under 4 hours. Front nine is a little boring but the Back more than makes up for it. Nice value under $70.00, good wildlife had a water moccasin on 18 tee box which was interesting.
