About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Great golf course
Our only disappointment today was the fact the bar/pub was closed for the day. It's nice they gave them the day off on Mothers day, but could not even get water or any drinks all day (except vending maching on 12th hole.)

The Lakes
Grasses were just greening up, pace of play was just under 4 hours. Front nine is a little boring but the Back more than makes up for it. Nice value under $70.00, good wildlife had a water moccasin on 18 tee box which was interesting.

Needs work
This course is going to take some time and groundskeeper work before I would rate it higher. Poa Annua covers the fairways and greens. The traps were not managed and needed sand. I only played the front nine and two holes had some imagination. The back nine on the card looked a little more challenging. It’s just a new course that needs professional work to be rated higher. The staff was friendly, and the pace of play was fine. If you are just looking to find a lower cost course and not worried about your lie or true putts, it will fill that expectation.

Bad Greens
The greens were terrible. They were covered by Poa Anna sprouts that caused your putts to bounce back and forth on the way to the cup. We've played there for a number of years, and this is the worst I've seen it.

Enjoyable Day
We had a very nice time. The course needs to green up a bit and the fairways were a bit sparse. Sad to say the greens were in bad shape. Very rough and bumpy. Loved the lay out, hopefully the greens and fairways come in soon.

Hilton Head Lakes Review
The greens were terrible, they had poana grass growing in every green. Every putt was bumpy and at times changed direction due to the poana in the greens. The tee boxes were in bad shape also, hardly any grass on them. Definitely not a $75 dollar coarse, maybe a $35-40 dollar coarse in the condition it is in now. Really disappointed.

While it is early season, the tee boxes and fairways were not in great shape. The greens were the biggest problem however, they had tufts of grass that made them very bumpy.

Nice layout, but course needs attention
The course layout was very nice, but the playing conditions were not good. All of the greens had at least moderate infiltration of poa annua which made them very uneven and bumpy. The practice green was terrible. The fairways were also affected with poa annua which seemed to be the dominate grass in them, but the weeds there did not have the detrimental impact to play nearly as much as they did on the greens. None of the bunkers were raked and some had substantial debris of leaves and pine needles. I would have been really upset if I had payed full price for my round.

Great Course for the money!
Course for the money! I’ve played here numerous times and always enjoy it. The course isn’t in the best condition around but the layout is great the variety of the holes is great.

Perfect layout, in need of rain and TLC
Loved the layout of this track. The greens and fairways are desperately in need of some heavy rain (for a week) just like most courses. Young man and lady behind the Proshop counter were excellent, and very personable. Bartender was also excellent. Gentleman at bag drop was very good at guiding me around the property. Most courses could use extra rain, as there’s been a bit of a drought this winter. This course has well designed holes and could be one of the best in the area if just a tad bit of money went into the upkeep.
