The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

#2 green @ Trails Photo submitted by bowhunter817 on 04/10/2013
Nice course
Nice course, greens, fairways and bunkers all in great condition.
Where do I go
Unless you have played before, the required shots and distances are a mystery. Probably a good layout but the first time experience was not good. We renamed the course The Trials of Frisco.
Conditions
Good cars good layout but the condition of the course is a little on the rugged side
Greens were bumpy and grainy
Challenging Layout
8:30 Sunday morning round. Greens were in very good condition and putts rolled true. Marshal on the course was friendly, but kept the course moving. 4:15 for 18 holes.
Not for the average golfer
Unless you have a low handicap, I would not recommend this course. The course is beautiful but there are hazards everywhere that an average golfer would hit. Sometimes there are 2 hazards in the middle of the fairway.
I want to have fun when I play and a challenge but this was not set up for the average golfer.
Great course
Challenging yet fair, greens in fine shape, bunkers have sand... what's not to like?!
Fun course
Course layout overall does not get boring. Good for the money. Some grounds of fairways and tee boxes have become pretty hard and caught me off guard. But it’s playable if you are aware of the condition and careful. As usual, bunker doesn't have much sands.
Afternoon heat means great pace of play
Played with a "hot deal" and no one was on the course. If you've never played the course, be prepared to lose balls unless you're shots go where you're aiming at.
Little bit slow players this afternoon.
Everything is fine with me, just followed group of tournament(?) Was little bit slow playing due to the one of player got several moligans.
Overpriced
$60 of this course is ridiculous. Greens are like putting on shag carpet. Bunkers are like playing out of something that has been baked in a kids easy bake oven-total hardpan. Everything around the edges of the course needs to be cleaned up. No reason to lose a golf ball 6” off the cart path. I’ve played. It if courses in the metroplex that are better than this and not nearly as expensive. Pace of play on a weekend was almost 6 hrs- saw plenty of marshals but they were looking for golf balls. In this condition this course should be about $25-30 on weekends, not $60. Don’t waste your time until management t decided to put some money into the daily upkeep of the course. I love lesa than 5 minutes from it and will not be back.
Strategic Golf. Great Pace
This is a great course. Very strategic and enjoyable. Never felt any pressure nor did we ever have to wait on anyone. I try to play a different course as much as possible and really enjoyed this one. Will be back for sure and bring my family and friends.
Bring lots of balls
The course was surprisingly challenging. There was water on almost every single hole in the course. However, it was still fun for a novice golfer like myself. The pace of play was perfect and the overall price was definitely reasonable. I would come back and play her again.
Nice course- always enjoy it.
This course is generally well maintained and has a good layout with a variety of challenges. Great value when you find the deals. I’ll always come back.
Great course for the price
My Buddy and I played this course for the first time today. It’s a challenging course that makes you think a bit about every shot. The greens were in great shape and the few times I found the fairway it was nice as well. Overall a great course for the price.
First Time!
Beautiful course in Frisco and with Golf Now the value was great as well for only $30. Greens were a lil inconsistent but in great shape with well manicured fairways. I’ll play here many more times.
P.S. stay in the fairway or you’ll suffer the ruff! Lol
