The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Disappointed
the course was cart path only which no one made me aware of --drove 45 minutes to find out once I got there --so it was a very disappointing round--
Course need attention
Greens aren’t the best shape, bunkers low in sand , tees needed attention to remove bad grass, but is always good to have fun playing this course. Let’s see if gets better within spring.
Fun course needing better condition
This course doesn’t bore me. It seems like every hole is unique and I enjoy it. It could be seasonal but the green was bumpy. The fairway is pretty hard and very unpredictable. It was disappointing to see sone good drives ended up being unplayable after running forever on the hard pan fairway. This condition ruins the fun course design. The bunkers are not sand bunkers. They contain very loose and fine dirts. Be careful when you have to execute downhill bunker shots.
Great Value, This course never gets old
Even if you pay full price on the weekend this course never dissapoints. The greens rolls true and a very quick. There is a great mix of holes that are challenging in their own ways. Course is kept up very well and i have nothing but good things to say. Some really great views especially on the back nine here.
above average course
this is a very decent course - somewhat challenging....pace is acceptable - 4:15 minute round with foursome - with foursome in front of us...decent conditions for winter - it was cart path only due to recent storms - not a real big deal to me except the range was closed and i had come out early to hit..
Why did you charge fee?
When I went there, golfclub was closed. They already informed Golfnow. But you didnt notify us. We couldn’t play game. Why did you charge golf fee?
Good course for the money
For golf in February it’ was good. Some of the holes offer a real challenge and shot placement. It was a cart path only day and that made things slower but overall it was good. The staff has always been good.
Course is good as late winter season...
Slow 3 players, without Marshall.
Warm and humid but enjoyable rounds.
Very nice course for early February
Still winter but course is in good shape with greens rolling true. Recommend your first time to be with someone who has played there before as course moves up/down/left/right with several creeks coming into play and some shots are relatively blind. Packed with people trying to get in a game before the super bowl. Pace was slow, took almost 5 hours. Management needs to do something about local kids blowing air horns from backyards and behind trees, especially at 14th tee
Beautiful day
First time in 2019 to play, been so freaking wet. Soggy, but great day.
Slish Spash!
Very soggy! Surprised the course was open. The greens were not nearly as soft as you would expect. Rolled true and received a good approach soft very well. Forget about roll. Bunkers were all filled with enough water to loose your ball. Would have been fun except for the foursome who wouldn’t let our twosome play through. Played the front nine in almost 3 hours. Never saw a marshall.
Local Favorite
Played here a number of times and really enjoy this course. Few tips: Bring plenty of balls. There is trouble on almost every hole. Drive the ball strait. Yes this is important on all courses, but this one is critical. I have played my personal best here, but only did this due to a great driving day. Try to stay 'below the hole' if possible. Are there any negatives to this course? Yes. 1. Don't make plans for after the round, you will be late. People out here are nice but they play terribly slow. They picked up golf as adults and never learned the rules and etiquette of golf. 2. Don't play if it has rained lately. Several holes don't drain well and it can stay mushy for a while. 3. Don't plan on staying for drinks afterward. Food and Bev service is an afterthought
Cart paths only.
Muddy muddy muddy!!!
Call before you go... and make sure courses conditions especially after rain or storms..
Thanks
Good round good course
While it's no Shadow Hills, Trails of Frisco is a solid course. I like the challenge of wide fairways, tight second shots , and quick greens. Nice staff, well informed, and quick to make sure you have a good round. Pace of play was busy for Black Friday, but once we got in front the slow group in front of us, we had a good pace of play. Four birdies in the day helps to make the day fun too.
