The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
challenging course
First, my wife and I were planning to walk ( she was injured with a bad knee injury but was trying to play along with me - the staff was so kind as to let her use a cart with no extra charge - i wanted to walk so continued to do so - was a god send for her - thanks!)
the course conditions i think are quite good - this is a tough course - some very difficult holes - if you shoot in the 70's here off the blue trees you are a very very good golfer.. pace was good - cover restrictions were fine and did not impair my enjoyment of the day..
I will be back
thanks!
Rough
First and foremost the course itself isn’t really that bad. The greens are mostly sand but nothing you can do right now. Hopefully time will fix this. The fairways are hard and flat. And boy oh boy I hate this course. There is zero rough. If you aren’t on the fairway your ball is gone. I’m not a good player by any means, generally I shoot 95-102 but I don’t often lose more then a ball or two a round. This course tho every time I lose 9-10 balls. It’s just rough to play.
Turn on The Sprinklers
Tee boxes rock hard and greens need water. I live on another course and it’s greens and tee boxes are in far better condition. The layout is really neat and a challenging course it just needs work.
Enjoyed the Round
The weather was great and walking the course was very nice. Fairways are looking great, but the greens have been punched and still growing in... so very slow and bumpy. Will be better in a few weeks, just need some heat!!
Good golf in COVID times
Recommended. Most important is the golf. The course is in good shape. Courses in the area differ in how they are operating in these closed off times. Here the putting green and practice range are closed so it’s all focused on getting on the course. We paid online and the starter had the record so this was easy. Clubhouse offered snacks at the turn, ordered from a helpful clerk outside.
Mediocre overall
Played after a big rain but I can tell that’s not the reason that the course was in such rough shape. Tight lies in fairways, bunkers unplayable, and greens recently punched. Course layout only allows for 3-4 driver shots off tee, which I usually like, but not this time.
Drying on the way...
Always challenges course.
Little muddy spotted fairway after rain storm.
But playing good with wife.
Fun hole cups, protective Corona virus...
Good for Healthcare for everyone.
Wonderful job and thanks for maintenances

Love this course but tough
I really enjoy this course and if you are moving you game up to the next level this is a course for that. This is a tough course for high handicappers. It was windy, in addition to winter conditions, so the round I had was very challenging. On a calm day this is a tough course but worth it to work on your game. This course has everything for a good day of golf.
Torn
This review has me torn...the layout is great with challenging holes throughout. The pace of play was pretty good and the greens were rolling fast and great to putt on with a few with weeds strewn thru a few. The bunkers were void of sand and the tee boxes needed a good leveling on a few holes. The course has potential but it needs some work.
Cloudy but perfect conditions
Still winter fairway and greens and rolls fast.
Friendly staff and good pace of speed.
Enjoyable round of plays.
I like the course
But needs work , sand traps need sand . The fair ways are very thin . . I like. The greens good speed , but needs weed services
Great Day at the Course
I've been to Trails several times before, they are in the process of renovating the bar area and there's some construction around the edges of the clubhouse but overall it didnt impact pace of play or ability to get around the course. The Weather was perfect and considering how much rain we've received over the last several weeks the course was in great shape. Had a great time and would always recommend playing here.
Trails in Frisco
Very nice and a challenging course. Good layouts and well-maintained greens. Holes 2, 9, 12, 17 & 18 could be very difficult for an average golfers. Good course management skills are needed to tackle these holes.
Great course for the money
This course has a very challenging layout an calls for most of the clubs in your bag. A few wet spots on the course due to poor draining but not too bad. Greens were excellent and putted true. Would highly recommended.
