The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Great course, great value
Me and my brother got a hot deal for 15$ a piece which is hard to beat value-wise.. The gentleman in the pro shop was not enthusiastic at all, but friendly enough I guess. Tee boxes in good shape. fairways are nice and plush on almost every hole, but there are some dry spots with little grass on a few holes, no problem just move the ball over 5 ft to some good grass. Greens are tough but fair and true rolling and in great shape. Girl at the bar on the turn wasn’t friendly either, that’s my only complaint.. tough course, but lots of fun, bring a bunch of balls ;)
Great course that makes you think about every shot
Great course in good condition with a few challenges along the way. The marshalls were great, even had a nearest the pin challenge with one of them. The fairways were immaculate, the bunkers needed a little work and the greens were a little slow but overall we had a great afternoon at The Trails.
Enjoy round of the Golf...
Happy 4th of July...
Great maintenances, great player and staff.
Always let us play (2 some) thru the holes(nice player).
Always enjoying rounds of golf with wife very much this course..
Thanks
Good fir the price
I paid $16 and it worth it but it was cart path only.
Great Course
Great fairways and good greens. A little slow play
First Impression
Great staff, Starters and Marshal's were great and very polite. The course is great, greens were fast but well taken care of, the course itself was in perfect condition. Great layout, grass was perfect. They could use a little more signs that help you locate holes, a couple people drove back and fourth looking for the right way to go. I found the course somewhat challenging because on many holes you have a couple of different options. Range isn't in great shape but decent enough for a quick warm-up. Thank you Trails of Frisco.
Disappointed in the greens
I've always enjoyed the Trails. I feel like the layout fits the property and offers a nice challenge. However, the greens are in terribly bad shape. Part of that is due to golfers failing to repair their ball marks. (Come on people! It's not that hard.) In addition, while I don't mind a course playing hard and fast, this course would be better served by having it slowed down a bit. How about a program of punching the fairways and top dressing them?
One of area’s best
Course in really good shape. Greens almost 100% back from aerating and fairways flawless. Bunkers are still a mess from flooding rains but they always get them back in shape. Played on a Tuesday and the Marshal’s were engaged and active, keeping pace of play solid on a very busy day. Best value for the money in the Northern suburbs in my opinion.
Almost Really Good
The course is a good layout with lots of interesting holes. Fairways and greens were in good shape. But the bunkers are terrible. They are washed out, and the course does nothing to groom the bunkers. As long as you understand the bunker situation, it is worth $30-$35. But no way would I pay $50 to play that place. Too bad, because if they would fix the bunkers it would be a really good public course.
Frisco golf
New to the area and in looking at cost effective golf courses that provide good value! This is an A+ for a course in great shape and challenging design. Lots of water plenty of adjustments needed for a average golfer like me.
Traveled one hour to get here and will be back to play again.
Difficult and Challenging Golf Course
Trails of Frisco is not for the faint of heart. Bring plenty of golf balls because you will lose some. I love the layout. Each and every hole is interesting and difficult. I am a 10 handicap golfer and shot 85 today(blue tees). The greens are quick and hard. They roll pretty smoothly but probably need to be aerated soon. The fairways are in good shape. I’ve played this course four times now and I look forward to playing here again soon. The staff is friendly. No complaints. Buckle up, because this course is a handful.
