The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
Very nice course!
After reading several reviews after already having purchased my tee times I was extremely leary. Great news! This course is very well maintained (sod in fairways and greens). The traps were a little sparse at times but otherwise very nice. While we did not see the cart girl but twice the marshals were extremely vigilant and friendly. We played on a Friday morning and actually got off a few minutes early as a twosome. Played in 3 1/2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great Course
Pro shop staff was great and beverage service was excellent.
Unorganized
Tee times were way off. They packed to many people on course. No keys for carts until tee time. They were waiting for carts to come in to get more out. Greens were in bad shape and very rough and bumpy. Hot day, cart girl came once for 18 holes.
A fun course to play with your family.
A fun course that I played with my 15 and 13 year old sons. The day we chose to golf was hot but the groundskeepers and staff were friendly and helpful.
Course OK...staff disengaged
The course if OK...layout isn't the best...hole number 2 is just poor design...fairways were pretty good...green were punched when I played and they seemd in OK condition...some dead spots...but the staff and ground keepers were just "head down got work to do" in their response to us. Guys were running machine in the traps when we were putting...no sense of that being an issue with them. All said and done, if you get a good rate, I'd play here but many better courses in the area.
Nice course, very good condition
It rained early in that morning, but we played when in cleared up. So, there were not very many golfers out there. There course was soaked and standing water everywhere, and the greens were punched and really in poor shape so, it would be unfair to review based on that. I can see that there will be a lot of issue heading into the summer with dead grass around the cup already, so I hope they address that before it gets too ugly. The fairways were lush and easy to play. We were 90 degrees, so pace was very slow once we caught up to a foursome. I like this course, the greens are challenging, with lots of undulations, and you do not want to be in the second cut, it is a bear to hit of of. If you stuck behind some high handicappers, expect to play 5+ hours. This course is long and will eat you alive if you can't drive the ball straight.
Nice little course
They aerated the greens 3 weeks ago but they're still in rough shape. Course is challenging but fun. Only complaint is they need better OB/Hazard markers. Yardage from the GPS didn't seem too exact. There are a few holes where you think you're short of a creek/hazard, but then you drive up to find your ball is gone.
Great course!
Great place to play. A must play for those who live in the area.
Staff was friendly and flexible with our tee time. Course was in conditions even with the greens being sanded recently. Would definitely play again

great layout with challenging holes
Great value for the money during the week. would recommend to anyone who loves golf
Large greens, immaculate fairways, lots of bunkers
Beautifully maintained tees and fairways. Greens had been aerated about a week prior, so a little bumpy and slow , but should be great in a week or two. Good info on each hole on the gps system. Carts were clean and operated beautifully. Marshalls highly visible to make sure pace of play was good. Marshalls and maintenance staff attentive and pleasant. Maintenance staff stopped working while we were getting ready to hit. Beautifully laid out course and quite challenging. Will definetly play it again. Highly recommend it, but not for beginners.
Other than just punched greens, the course was in great shape
Trails is a fun layout with some interesting dynamics. There are 5 par 3's on the course, including 3 on the back. Both the front and back nine start with par 5's. The par 5 18th is somewhat challenging with a creek running down the entire left side of the fairway, but the green situated across that creek. A few of the fairways can get a little tight, especially in the wind, but overall a very fair and somewhat easy layout. When we played, the course was in great shape except that the greens had just been punched. It woudl have been nice to know that when booking, but that info was not available online.
Disappointed
Blind shots are too frequent. Course layout strange. Hit driver on 400 + yd par 4 and found creek about 200 yards when I drove cart over hill. Means that if you lay up you still have 200 min shot to green. Sorry but I don't hit it 250 off tee every time to carry creek safely.
Too many areas that with a shot slightly off right or left, you are in snake territory with grass 2 ft tall. I probably would have played and scored much better if I played course several times. Btw, I shot 38 on back. Too many choices out there to put up with the problems here. Staff was courteous, but pace of play very slow.
Traps need sand.
Traps need a lot of attention. Very little sand possibly due to recent rains. Marshal needed a customer service lesson. Completely non-responsive to request for a new cart based on non- functioning GPS. Said that's just the way it is. Course is challenging for an intermediate player. Fairways and greens are good.
After the rains came...
Played the day after a big rainstorm and the course was in great shape, even after the storms.
Friendly staff, great rangers. Course was pretty empty, so the pace of play was excellent.
Very attractive and fun course with good layout and true greens. Enough trouble to keep you on your game, but very playable. #17 is a bit goofy (3 segment fairway?) but the rest were fair and well laid out.
Good facilities including clubhouse, pro shop, driving range, putting green and chipping green.
As Arnold says: "I'll be back."
Good Course getting in better shape, couple of holes you seem to have to wait on
Good Course understaffed for the turn need to get some help in club house, make more money on your food at the turn.
Because out by the lakes little extra long on some holes.
Par 5's can play short but a fun course.
fairways and greens are getting much better. I like the course again pace of play at times are slow some people think they can hit the ball further on some of the holes and they can't
Just hit it unless your a Pro.
Course was in pretty good condition.
I warmed up at the driving range, which could use some attention. Overall the course was pretty nice. The greens were lightning fast, which made the round difficult.
