The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course
This course is in good condition, offers many exciting and challenging holes, and you can normally find good deals online. The course plays long from back tees but is friendly from the front tees for beginning players.
Solid for price
The course looks better than it has in a couple of years. The bunkers are the only thing that continue to be a disappointment.
Nice greens still winter though
Fairways still in winter mode.
Driving range was small and not well kept.
Greens were perfect.
Overall fun course to play even though it took a while.
Nice challenge
This is not the easiest course, but it is fair. Probably my favorite course in the North Dallas area. It requires well placed shots. Staff has always been cordial and helpful. In decent shape even for this time of year...February.
It was a good golf course
It wasn't great but it was good, The weather didn't help it was cold and winter doesn't help golf courses but I'm trying to do my best to be objective in my review.
Good course
Usually get a great deal to pay during the week. Worth every penny. Lots of challenging holes. Hit a lot of different clubs. Great staff always friendly. Greens are usually pretty good.
Good course, sometimes challenging
This was overall a good course, but some holes were challenging for a somewhat beginner golfer like myself. Lost a few more balls then normal, since there were a few holes that I couldn't see the pin. Got a good deal on GolfNow, so I'd play it again at that rate, but not sure I'd go for "regular" prices.
Tough but fun
The course was tough, but not so tough that it wasn't enjoyable. GPS on the carts very helpful, as it gave recommendations as well as yardages. If you're a true beginner you might want to try elsewhere but anyone else should definitely give it a go. Only issue we saw were the bunkers, but that could have been the rain from the day before. Will play here again soon.
Great Day to Play a really good course.
Interesting layout in good condition. Played in about 3 hours with no one in front of us.
This is a nice course for the money.
Great course. I have played it on multiple occasions and you hardly ever see the drink cart so bring a cooler.
They need to cut down the tall weeds that border the fairways, creeks, and ponds.

An all-around enjoyable experience.
The course was very busy the day I played. In spite of the fact that they were very busy, the staff was friendly and helpful. The fairways were dry because of the drought, but in better shape than I expected. The greens rolled true -- if you hit a good putt, it had every chance of going in. The course is a good balance of difficult holes and scoring holes.
2 minor caveats -- 1) the snack bar was overwhelmed by the crowd -- took a while and 2) I had a little trouble finding a level spot on a couple of tee boxes. Moved around a little and found a suitable spot.
Course was great and challenging
The layout of the course was great. Shot hitting course. Will definitely play it again.
Enjoyable course
The course was in good condition and the greens were average speed and were in very nice shape. There is plenty of trouble and there are a few forced carries, but the course was fair. The GPS worked well and helped speed up play. There was a refreshment cart on the course which helped in the 100 degree weather. The comments about the traps are correct. Some were hard as rock - I would think that there is sand available in Texas.
Fun course if you like challenges
Trails of Frisco was a fun and challenging course. The front nine was a good test, then the back nine got pretty challenging. Tight fairways with hazards all around and in between made it tough off the tee. The course overall was in great shape for this time of year. A couple of the fairways that had hills or sloped a lot were pretty dried out which made them difficult to hit off of in a couple of spots. Other than that the greens were solid and had a lot of break in them. This is a course I'll definitely revisit.
Ran into back os a SLOW tourney
I'm glad I played the course, but wouldn't go out of my way to go again. It was ok...not great, but ok. We did run into the back of a slow tourney, so I got to watch the future (juniors) slow players of America over analyze tee shots, approaches, chips and putts...
