The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Excellent course
The course was in great condition. Fairways and Greens in excellent condition!
Tough course
This is a tough course with several forced carries and the creek meanders the entire length of the course. I always use the majority of my clubs at this course, and it does provide you the opportunity to be creative around the greens.
rough was rough
I have never seen so much trash left in the trees before in my life on any course I have ever played on. It reminded me of a garbage land fill. Too nice of a course to be treated so poorly.
Trash everywhere
The overall golf course itself was fine but the surrounding wooded and marsh areas are literally filled with trash, plastic bottles and other garbage left by prior golfers. There are also several wooded areas that look to be bulldozed over, possibly for future repair or course revisions but the amount of trash around this course is literally staggering. Every waterway, almost all of the wooded areas and anywhere not specifically on the fairways or greens has visible trash stuck in the trees, shrubs and tall grasses. So disappointing to see as a patron of this course and a resident of Frisco.
Average - good
The course has a challenging, fun layout.
There was a lot of trash across the whole course, really looks bad.
The mats on the range are very hard, almost feels like hitting from the concrete.
Experience 8/10
Course is no bueno
If you’re wondering why this course has open tee times on Saturday and Sunday mornings, there’s a reason. It’s fine if you live close or nothing else is open, but don’t go out of your way. Tee boxes are trash, fairways are ok. Greens are ok. They do charge less than other courses, but still not worth the inflated price of golf these days.
Not worth the money!
This course should not be charging $77 given the condition it's currently in. Greens were fine, but tee boxes and fairways were in need of attention. Lots. And I think it's shady for the Pro Shop to not inform you that there's a juniors tournament taking place out on the course, about 2 groups ahead of you. And they're all walking. DST had kicked in on Sunday, November 5, so it was getting darker earlier. We teed off at 12:20 pm and didn't even bother finishing the last two holes because the tournament was so backed up. Won't play there again, much better courses in DFW in that price range.
What a waste..
The course was in terrible shape. Muddy, cracked, dirt patched fairways. 5.5 hours of pure disappointment. Criminal how much they charge for such a terrible course. Boycott by all means.
Very nice course with some tough holes!
All in all, great course, friendly staff and we got to see the partial eclipse during our round! The one negative I have is that I was in the bunkers five times and there was not a rake at four of the five bunkers. I think we saw the Beer Angel more than we saw rakes! That was nice compared to our normal courses in OK.
False scarcity of tee times
We purchased 4 tickets due to the scarcity of time slots. As we go to check in, the club advised us that the course is a ghost town. That said we would have never purchased 4 tickets to be proactive. Also, majority of the tee boxes had massive cracks due to erosion.
Hit and miss experience
I got there early and ate lunch, young lady at the bar was very friendly. Went to range to warm up, range is horrendous. Course was OK for the money, played in 2 hours and 20 mins by myself.
Terrible condition
One of the more expensive public courses in DFW and this was the worst condition I’ve seen a course in. Awful tee boxes, almost every fairway had rock hard/ cracked open patches. Greens were okay, but many had tractor tire marks.
The layout of the course is unique and challenging but terrible conditions. Not worth the green fee, there are plenty of other public courses that are in much better shape even after the summer heat.
Poor Frisco Trails
At one time this was one of the better courses and deals in Frisco. However, today it’s and overpriced goat field with average greens. Don’t waste your money…
Was not great
The fairways and tee boxes were very dry and not in good shape... huge cracks in the fairway would "eat" golf ball... also, huge bounces on hard fairways made increase difficulty. However, rough around greens was way over grown... Best feature of this course was Payton the cart girl. She was all business and made rounds fast/quick.
