Wilderness Golf Course

Really good golf course with superior greens. Very good speed and lots of undulation. Nice clubhouse and staff is very friendly.

This course is a must play. A real hidden gem and worth the 50 minute drive from where I live. The greens were rolling as fast as any I have played on. Great value for the money.

Great layout with Fairways and greens in great shape. Moderately challenging for average golfer.

It's a long drive, but worth it once you get there. The course is beautiful and soft and the staff is very nice. I was a little surprised they didn't have any energy drinks. No Red Bull, 5 hour energy, Monster etc. This is now one of my favorite courses, I'll just have to bring my own Red Bull.

Wilderness is always fun to play. In great shape, and a challenging course. The greens are always soft, and undulating. This is a course that I could play everyday.

The greens were very fast and in some challenging locations. The fairways were very good but the grass was a little high so the ball didn't roll very much. Overall a very enjoyable round of golf. I will certainly play there again.

The course is in beautiful shape. The staff is extremely friendly and I would highly recommend the Wilderness to anyone.

The Wilderness is a challeging golf experience. I played it for a $25 twilight deal which is a steal. The greens are well guarded by bunkers. The only complaint is that the carts seemed too slow. Otherwise, the staff was friendly. Course etiquette by other golfers was great. I will be back definitely.

Was on vacation and found this course. We had planned to play tour 18 in Houston but decided to try The Wilderness instead I am glad we did. This course is in excellent shape and is very challenging especially the greens.

Had heard about the course for a while and decided to give it a try. Glad I did. Friendly staff, course is a solid fair test and it was in great shape on this day.

Great layout and in very good shape. Fairways are very lush and greens rolled well. The course is maintained as well as, if not better, any of the best courses I've played. This course is a must play, can't say enough good things about it. If you're even remotely close to the area, you won't be disappointed.

First I must say I made the drive from Cypress, Texas to Lake Jackson and was pleasantly surprised. When I arrived in the distance tucked away is a Texas gem. You drive up to the clubhouse which takes you back to simpler times. The staff was very friendly. From the time you lay eyes on the course you see rolling fairways and undulating greens.The course is in great condition despite the lack of rain recently. The only complaint I have is the greens were being aerated so you could only play the front nine which was quite disheartening considering the drive i made. In addition to that i prepaid on golfnow.com and was charged a higher rate than the clubhouse was offering some kinda of hotdeal. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone if you want to get away from it all and enjoy a round of golf then find yourself in the Wilderness.

The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in very good condition, the staff very friendly.

Good Greens...Roll very true...Bunkers raked and fluffy sand ... Facilities neat and clean....Friendly, helpful staff...For a public course this is as good as it gets.

A really outstanding course - phenomenal tract for a public course. Excellent variety of holes - a player will use all the sticks in his/her bag. Course was in very good shape - greens were close to perfect. The huge greens make the course somewhat forgiving if you are a decent putter. The staff was extraordinarily friendly. I was paired with 2 'regulars' who were good players and were very friendly and helpful with the local knowledge of the course. I would very strongly recommend this course to golfers of all capability.

Best course for the money in Houston area! Any comparable courses 70+ dollars at primetime....

Have played this course many times. Mature trees, water, interesting wildlife, turtle back greens, forced carries. Interesting holes, just a great piece of property.
Course is above average in maintenance for a public course.

Two downsides you should prepare for:
1. mosquitos will reduce you to a skeleton
2. its a drive

Everyone likes this course and wants to play it again, just draw cards to see who drives.

The Wilderness is in great shape and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. The course is surrounding by lots of mature trees and green growth, so you feel as though you are far away from the cares of the world. Just be sure to take your bug spray - the mosquitoes are plentiful.

Awesome staff, course is in very good condition, pace of play is exceptional.
