Wilderness Golf Course

Reasonably long (great pay 4's) with somewhat wide fairways. Very nice layout and very playable. The staff here is great (treated us wonderfully).We were visiting the area for a couple of weeks and played as much golf as we could. Played "The Wilderness" three times and loved each. Highly recommend this place.

The course was in great condition even though a front had came through just 2 hours earlier. It was windy but the course was fair. I live about 30 minutes away
but the course is well worth the drive and with the Golfnow.com discount the price is unbeatable.

I've had the opportunity to play The Wilderness a few times now. And not once has it disappointed. The course itself is located in such a peaceful and relaxing setting just outside of Lake Jackson. And I love how it is always in such excellent condition. It plays pretty straight forward, what you see is what you get. But you still have to hit your shots, because it will challenge you. And when you do hit the green in regulation the greens are full of awesome undulations. If you get a chance, make the drive down 288 to Wilderness. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome staff! After my round I ordered food and ate while I watched an afc playoff game. We had the best time in a long time on this course.

It was a little wet due to rain; however, the course was in great condition. The pace was fine. The course marshal had my group play the back nine first to even out play and helped us play faster. We started the front nine with hardly anyone in front of us. The service was great and polite. This is my second time using GolfNow to play this course and would play it again if my schedule fits. Great course.

Booked my round through Golfnow but had trouble getting to the course in time for my tee time. Called the course and they were very accommodating - told me not to worry and I would go off whenever I arrived.

There had been a lot of rain the previous day and intermittent rain throughout this day but the course was very playable. The only place we found standing water was on the tee boxes (they were a bit wet) but the rest of the course, especially the greens, played great. The course can play quite long depending on which tees you choose to play. That said, pick the tees that set up for your game and it's a great course. Fast, undulating greens with a lot of break - not many straight putts here. Plenty of trees and hazards make for a terrific experience and a rewarding round of golf.

Took a friend who plays very well to The Wilderness. He thought the experience was "delightful".

I played miserably but still enjoyed the round. The course was in fine condition and all of the people are welcoming and likeable, hoping to please the customer.

It was a great course and worth to drive out over an hour. I will go back to play again.

Overall, this course was great. Greens were fast and fairways were very well maintained. I have played here twice. The first time was after a very heavy rain and my one complaint is the course did not drain well and I was forced to play front 9 twice. The second time was a week later and it was much better. Both times I played I was very glad I brought some Off as mosquitos were very bad.

Really good course. The greens are challenging with lots of contours and fast.

Awesome course! Beautiful & well maintained. Challenging layout, yet not quirky or unfair. Cool, rustic clubhouse and very friendly staff and marshals. Well worth the short drive from Houston.

Course is wonderful. True greens--fairways in great shape. Look out for the alligators. Set in a very beautiful natural area with LOTS of water and trees.

This course has a great layout, no houses or anything for that matter to block views of nature. From the doe that crossed in front of us to the snake, we took it all in. Although a hot and muggy day we were able to stand it because the pace was great. The maintenance crew would move as we approached - how often do you that? Even had a cart girl making the rounds.

Well worth the drive out south of Houston. Go have a fun round as it does not over penalize for poor shoots but does reward good shots.

Played Wilderness for the first time yesterday! What a pleasant surprise!! The course was in excellent condition and has an interesting and somewhat challenging (but fair) layout!! Greens were also interesting and in excellent condition.

Course was in excellent condition. One of the best courses I've played in the surrounding area. Friendly staff and easily navigable layout.

Course is in perfect condition. You can tell how much work the crew puts into it. Nice and soft fairways. Greens are immaculate. But the best part is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Most specially the gentleman at the pro shop, Jack. He went out of his way to help and accommodate me, to correct the mistake I made in making wrong date reservation. At golf now. Very professional and accommodating. Playing wilderness is a pleasant and relaxing experience. Definitely endorse it to other golfers.

One of the best courses in the houston area. Love this place

This is one of the best courses in the Houston area. The fairways and sand traps are in great shape. 2 and 3 teir greens are fast and tough. Awesome course can't wait to play it again.
