About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

Great pace of play, good conditions
Amid the pandemic-fueled golf boom, pace of play (especially on the weekends) is a huge problem at many courses these days. Our foursome experienced no such issues this past weekend. Granted, we teed off at 8am and it was 42 degrees so maybe that had something to do with it. But it was an otherwise beautiful day and our group didn't have to stop and wait a single time.
As for the conditions, there fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The only blemish was the bunkers, which were really bad (yet another thing that seems to be increasingly common these days).
Expect a tough, challenging test of golf from this rolling, hilly track with tiered, well-protected greens. But with the solid conditions, swift pace of play, and the free burger/hot dog, chips and drink you get included, it's a fair value that's worth checking out.

Challenging course
Alittle more rain will help fairways. Greens in nice shape. Good rolls. Sand needs a lot of work.

Brand new carts seats are soft fairways are nice and green bunkers are trash not kept up with greens are running good

Cold Rainy Day
This Course plays nicely no matter the weather. Has some challenging layouts the hills bring in an added feature.

Great course!!!
Always love playing Houston National not just because it is close to my house but it's one of the most interesting course I've played in the US. The course layout is challenging but attracted to golfers at all level. Fairway is getting dry as winter is coming, but green is very well kept and fast (which I like). The staff here is also very friendly.
Overall, I love everything about this course that I am considering enrolling membership here so I can play the Sterling too.

The best course I’ve ever played in Houston
We were the first tee time in the morning, nice cart, good range balls and what a course. Challenging but fun and in a great shape. Will play there again soon.

Lighting quick round 2 hrs and 10 minutes
Always a fun course. Greens were nice and golf edicicate was great. I was a single and squeezed in a round at 2 pm and finished at 3:10 all because players there knew how to play and let me pass. Great time playing

Golf carts were bad, however received a new shipment to replace their golf carts! Course was in very good shape!

Poor course condition.Bunkers not racked and hard likes a wood floor!!!They don’t have beverage carts on the golf course??? We are really disappointed

3 1/2 hour round on a Sunday
Booked a single on the Golf Now app and was grouped up with 3 others. Course was in decent shape, greens where great and fairways were good for the most part. Layout was nice but felt long playing into a 20 mph wind. Staff was really friendly and a burger afterwards was included in the green fees. Besides being a good drive from Rosenberg I would play this course again.

Fun course to play
I played as a single by myself on a slower day. I was able to play on under 4 hours while not being rushed one bit.
Course was challenging & I played from the white tees. Some of the holes with water are particularly challenging. Hitting out of .most of the rough was not overly difficult.
Pro shop staff person was super nice & helpful.
I would definitely like to play here again.
