Houston National Golf Club
About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

Saturday morning solo round
Course was in good shape. It was a bit windy and a little chilly but all in all a fun round. The round comes with a free beer and lunch
Gas golf carts?
This is the first time in playing golf since 1983 that a course had gasoline driven golf carts instead of electric ones, it was a jew experience! No a bad one but new one!
Worst courses in Houston do not waste you time
Course is absolutely trash. Needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt.
Looking good
This course was pretty rough during the summer but now it’s come back and looks pretty good.
Under Construction
Nice course but 3 holes are under construction. No warning until you’re teeing off/ no discount for construction. Marshall was nice, staff was nice except when we were returning the carts the kid asked where the mud on my cart came from? Maybe the sidewalks that were underwater?? We also had a 3 some in front of us that were recording themselves and taking their time even though there were 4 parties waiting behind them. Not the courses fault but no one to speed them up. Overall a nice course but could use some work and overpriced in my opinion. At least discount for construction.
Great experience
Conditions of the course was very good. Pace was good.
Good round
The course was in good condition with an interesting layout and with varying degrees of difficulty among the course holes.
HouNat
Course was challenging as ever.
Houston is in a drought so the course is very dry and brown. Lots of bare areas due to lack of rain.
Tee boxes and greens were nice. Greens were receptive and you could tee your ball up easily.
Traps were in good condition.
5 1/2 hour round
Round was 5 1/2 hours with no marshal to police play. A foursome of hackers held everyone up, because they took multiple shots each and were too busy trying holler at the cart girl. Greens were decent, but everything else was bone dry and full of crab grass.
