Sienna Plantation Golf Club
About
The Arthur Hills/Mike Dasher-designed Sienna Plantation is a flat, wooded course that has been enhanced to provide elevation changes. The result is a challenging track that rolls between lakes, creeks, and the native hardwoods that dominate the landscape.
In terms of playability, you'll primarily notice the abundance of risk-reward decisions that are required throughout the round on this course, which tips out at 7,151 yards.
Out of the chute you'll be challenged immediately-the opening two holes play as a 427-yard par 4 and a 601-yard par 5. It lightens up a bit on holes 3-4 with a reasonably short par 3 and a short par 4, but holes 5-8 can blow your score up quickly if you're not on your game. No. 6 is a monster 251-yard par 3 sandwiched between two 450-yard par 4s.
On the back it's more of the same, with the nine opening with four 400-yard plus par 4s. Both par 3s are over 200 yards, and the par 5s are each well over 500 yards. The only real birdie opportunity for the average handicapper is the 320-yard No. 16.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 59 south to the Williams Trace exit. Turn left on Williams Trace to Hwy. 6. Turn left and drive 5.5 miles to the Sienna Plantation main entrance. Turn right and follow the signs to the Information Center.

Two Thumbs Up
Course Conditions were good. Some greens need to be addressed, but otherwise rolled true. Fairways could use water as some hilly areas showed cracking but its Texas and hard pan is expected. Tee boxes were dry and hard tee up.
Nice course for the money
Nice course. Greens in great shape. Tee boxes and fairways were a little dry. Teed off at 9a. Not crowded at all.
Fun round
Fun round on a very hot day. Course is in nice shape and always presents some challenges. Food and beverage amenities could be so much better. Really seems like they are wasting space and not utilizing what could be a great 19th hole. But it's not.
Good news!
Course conditions have improved greatly.
Fairways are very good and greens are
improving as well.
GO PLAY
This course is challenging and scenic. I enjoyed the course layout, and the pace of play was great. If you're in the area go and play this course and look out for the alligators.
Sienna is much improved
I played Sienna in February and it was in terrible condition. Gave it another shot yesterday and was very impressed with how much it has improved.
Great course but poor conditions
Why do courses not notify prospective and signed-up players that the greens have been recently punched and have not yet recovered?
Sienna is a fine course, but not worth playing when putts bounce up and down and sideways on every green.
On the other hand, the grounds keeping crew might want to punch some holes on the tee boxes, which are so hard you need a hammer to set down a tee.
We will not be back until the greens have healed.

Disadvantage Paying thru Golf Pass/TeeOff
We did not know the course was aerating and sanding greens or we would have played elsewhere. When you book and pay through the Golf Pass/Tee Off membership you are tied in and cannot just decide to play elsewhere, once you already get to the course to discover the greens are near unplayable. I guess I need to call the course I want to play in advance to make sure greens are not being aerated since it is not being mentioned when tee times are scheduled.

Better than expected
I was surprised that the greens were in decent shape, even though a few bad spots on some. The course needed mowing badly. They were mowing as we played, but left big piles of cut grass that hid balls from being found. The tee boxes were generally hard and difficult to get a tee in. The course played harder than usual due to heavy and tall weeds that needed mowing.

Hopeful
This is a good course, good shape conditions especially after the hurricane. Except for still some tree debris needing attention. Another set of tees for seniors would be nice. Very disappointed with services or lack of. Never saw a beverage cart and water coolers we’re empty later after noon.
