poor greens at Moyvalley
I found a lot of the greens had holes in them. .not just pitch marks. Actual holes which should have been repaired by green staff. Possibly a good idea to put a map of the hole on the tee box not just on the card.. a little steep at €23.
great all round course
Played this course with 3 others for the first time and I have to say we will definitely be back.. The course played very well some lovely hole's and plenty of water.
Great course Greens spot on loved it
Very open course and always windy the way i like it.
Greens were just watered before we got there but were still in superb shape.
It's one off my favourite courses in Ireland and has well mannered
staff to go with it.
AAA++++++
Good course badly let down by atrocious bunkers
Hi all.
Moyvalley is a good course with lots of challenging and interesting holes, particularly the finishing 4-5 holes and a great 18th!!
The big big problem is that the bunkers have no sand in them, are easily flooded and when dry are like concrete. If you find them (and they are well placed to catch you!) they will spoil your round as you'll get ton's of bladed shots and/or complete clean strikes like you were hitting off concrete.
It's a real shame and turns a 4 or 4.5 star course and clubhouse into a 2 star experience.
Sort it out!!!
Excellent course, friendly staff. Great day
I had never played the course before and had heard mixed reviews, particularly when owned by the previous owners.
We bit the bullet and went out to play a round. The staff in the shop were super friendly, everything was well maintained and the course played perfect. The fairways were firm and the greens were running hard and fast. The bunkers were the only part of the course that needs attention, with lots of little stones.
Overall, we had a great day out and the course was brilliant. Plays very links style, would highly recommend. We will be back
will return
excellent value for money. friendly staff. Lovely clubhouse and changing rooms. Will return
Great course. Good value and worth the travel. Highly recommended.
Great course. Good value and worth the travel. Highly recommended.
This is up there with kileen and carton house
This is a lovely course and great value for money, i would even say it is as good or even better than carton house and kileen and at a fraction of the price.
Greens are in perfect condition, lovely practice area and driving range, will be back.
An excellent course for any handicapper
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and will go back many times in the future. I recommend to one and all.
Good value for money - worth a visit
Good challenge although very windy on the day we played. Greens fast but fair, the wind still caused done 3 putts! Although there is no standout holes (perhaps 16th an exception) the overall course is good, well maintained and architecturally quite good. As with most newish courses bunkers tend to be poor and let down the course but overall enjoyable and good value for money.
Great condition !!
Moyvalley is a well maintained course, greens where immaculate and very well maintained...
tight fairways and difficult rough.....
lovely,
overall the course was in great condition, loved it, can,t wait to play again,
Course Moyvalley - some challenging holes on back 9.
A windy & rainy morning but enjoyed the game. Course in good nick except bunkers v.hard after rain. Course was surprisingly dry.
There could be a few more directions like 'next tee arrows'.
It is a linksy course in ways eg you get the full force of the wind as there are hardly any trees, so shot choice was vital.
Mixed bag
We were greeted at the course by a fairly unfriendly gentleman in the clubshop who demanded a friend of mine change out of combats before he allows him out on the course. I'm all for banning jeans and tracksuit bottoms etc. but these combats were almost like regular golf trousers with a couple of extra pockets down the side. This on a day when there's 3 cars in the carpark if you know what I mean - in the middle of a recession and all! There were signs everywhere advertising food for sale "all day", but the clubhouse was closed after our round. The fairways weren't in great nick, just shorter than the rough, in need of water or some nutrients. It's a place to go if you want an audience out of the staff (who should be maintaining the place) - I would say that they have enough to do other then sitting observing customers swings and etiquette on the greens - my friend foolishly didn't fix his pitchmark (I didn't realise this as I was on the other fairway with my wayward swing!), but they made a holy show out of telling him as much - there is a such thing as a polite reprimand. On the other hand the place is very well drained and magnificently designed by Darren Clarke - a good test. In some ways I wonder if the staff are attempting to snatch defeat from the arms of victory.
Great setting great staff great food great course super value
One of the most enjoyable days golf in a long time
good course , with super greens, plenty of distance markers and very dry after heavy rain.
enjoy playing this course and would recommend this to all grades of golfer more information on tee boxes would be a help for golfers who havn't played it before
Some great challenging holes & the greens are fantastic
First time playing this course,it's a great course. We played with a low, medium & high handicap players & the course would suit everyone. Weather made holes that bit longer but that's the joys of winter golf in Ireland. Had a lot of rain the previous day & the course has great drainage so there was very little casual water, would play this course again when the weather improves, great value for the money we paid.
fantastic golf course
We were not able to use the air blower for cleaning after our round of golf ( switched off), but other than that, its all 5 out of 5. Would highly recommend to my friends.
Lovely track.
Well protected. Should to be played off the back sticks.
Great finishing hole.
Nice course, very challenging!
Nice course to play. Every shot in the bag is tested, your course management is key, an iron or 3/5 wood off the tee is the shot for some of the par 4's to avoid bunker/tree trouble on others you can smash the driver, a lay up 2nd shot is best on the par 5's again to avoid trouble although longer hitters might think about risk/reward on the par 5's!! Greens are honest but again quite challenging, very few if any straight putts. In the rough you either have luck or you don't, ball can sit up but can also burry which requires a hack out. I look forward to playing here again, great value for money!!
