The Golf Club of Texas
About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.

Great Layout
A very fair test of amateur golfing skills. First visit for my playing partner and he was thrilled. We will return!
Better days
I drove from New Braunfels. Worst than that, had a friend come all the way Dripping Springs to play with me. I had spoken highly of the course from past experiences. Boy were we disappointed! Greens were ok but plenty of places on the fairways and around the greens were just awful. Bunkers were unattended and no rakes. I will say, this is my last time to play there. Too bad, was a gem before. Should have never paid 60 bucks.
Around the corner
Well.. I’ve never played this course. Heard a lot about it. It’s. Good place to play if you feel the need to swing sticks. Greens are nice . If you live near the course it’s convenient .
Amazing course.
The course is an amazing course to play on. It’s maintained really well and you don’t feel rushed when playing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside is when you hit on the green, your ball keeps rolling until off the green. Other than that, it’s worth the trip!
The layout was solid but the condition in which the course is being kept was very poor. Staff was very nice which makes the experience better.
Solid course...traps still need work
I've played GCoTx several times now...always enjoy the round. Course was in good shape for the most part: tee boxes in good shape, fairways great, greens good...some don't hold very well but they're consistent. Nice variety of holes.....you'll use most if not all of your clubs.
The one complaint I have every time is their traps are always terrible. They're either full of mud or rock hard.
Good news is I "hear" they're going to replace some, and remove some, so this one problem should not continue. No timing though.
Greens
Course is fun to play, greens are hard and stopping the balll is hard but they are getting better. Staff is awsome restaurant was closed today but when it is open food is great. Bunkers are a little shaky need more work but getting better. Fun place to play go ahead and play.
Skip it
Course under renovation ?? scorecard not accurate in relation to yardages. Only 150 yardage pole. No yardage on any sprinkler heads. Tee boxes moved around with no consistency. No permanent yardage marker @ tee box to reference. My GPS found course but unable to receive signal after that.
Just needs TLC
My only real complaint about this course was the overall condition of the course for the price point. Course should probably be $20 cheaper for the condition. Greens were hard and slow, and some of the bunkers had weeds in them. The overall layout of the course is excellent. Put in some money into the course to get the condition up and you will have a great golf course
Water
100° temp and no water on course! !!!
No collars around pins to assist ball retreval as all other courses
Watch out for ants
The course was not in very good shape, the greens looked great from a distance, but were bumpy and didn’t roll true. The worst part was the ants...they were everywhere! I know this is Texas, but we had to check the ground each time we got out of the cart to make sure we weren’t stepping into a lot of ants, this often necessitated parking off the cart path. Pace of play was great (it was Wednesday morning so to be expected). Luckily we paid a hot deal rate as I would have been upset paying the rack rate. All that said, there are better places to play in the metro area and I’m unlikely to play there again.
Lots of things needed
I would like to see water for drinking and cleaning golf balls. Compared to Alamo City Golf trail, no GPS, no cart ball washer. For a higher round rate, course could provide that. No pvc pipe in hole—4ft of pvc could take care of whole course. I am suspecting this course will be closed within a few years like Republc.-I hope not. Too many courses to come here.
Has been better
I’ve played this course a few time and have had good opinions before. My main complaint with this round was the pace of play and cleaning of the golf carts. With the amount of sanitizing I see at other course and spread out of tee times this course fell short. Did not have a whole where we were not waiting on a group and the golf carts still had old trash from the previous group. Carts did not look like they had been wiped down or cleaned.
The Golf Club of Texas
A great layout and a forgiving course. Greens were no uniform in speed, but that added a layer of challenge.
