The Golf Club of Texas
About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.
Directions: 20 Minutes from downtown. Take U.S. 90 west to Texas 211 (2 exits past loop 1604) and we on the right. From downtown take 90 west to Texas 211.

Almost Perfect
I’ve always enjoyed playing this course. Usually, the greens are really fast. Not the case today, though. They are beautiful and in good shape, they were just slow and bumpy. Once the greens get cut, the course will be perfect to play.
The only other complaint I have is that they need more trash cans on the course and the on-course restroom is horrible. Ants everywhere inside the restroom and wasps outside the restroom.
Not terrific
Overall love the layout of this course which is walkathons brings me back every few months. Unfortunately the course condition continues to struggle from tee boxes to greens. Bunkers are entirely unplayable, greens are firm but somehow manage to be slow (described by a playing partner as like Velcro today) and bumpy throughout. Pace of play was slow (5+ hours), but it was late morning on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. Staff are always very friendly and even with the COVID situation the clubhouse is great. I will keep hoping the course conditions eventually improve And try again in another several months.
Excellent course conditions!!!
Had not played this course in about a year and forgot how challenging it is.....especially on the back side! Greens were in excellent shape and were pretty quick despite the wet areas around the greens.
Had a great time and will return soon!
Great afternoon round!!!
Perfect weather conditions and perfect timing apparently!!!! Got around in 3 hours! Greens were in super shape and the fairways were perfect at least the ones I hit!!!
Fun layout west of town
I had another round of golf fall through and I popped in here last minute on a Monday morning and was able to get out immediately. I'd played here years before but the conditions were rough and a storm ended up shooing me away after 9. It was a much better experience this time around. I understand they've put more work into it. The layout is pretty fun with good width off the tee and some good short par 4s. They nines were reversed a few years ago, which means you open with a really pleasant, short and downhill par 4, and finish with a good par-5 birdie opp instead of a brutal, long 4. While it's part of a larger development there are really very few homes around and it feels very natural. For $69 on a Monday, conditions could be a little better. but they were good enough. Kinda fits in the middle of San Antonio between the public/munis and high-end semi-private and resort courses. Glad to see this course doing a lot better than past years.
The Golf Club of San Antonio
Hidden Gem - I love the course and discovered a place I will enjoy in the future
decent course in good condition
greens were consistent and rolled true. a little slow but fine since they all were the same
fairways and tee boxes in good shape
traps not in good shape...not groomed at all.
nice practice area
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course with a great views. Fairways and tee boxes were kept in great condition, greens looked like they were trying to get there also. Will definitely be returning.
Course is always in horrific shape
I played the Golf club of Texas all throughout high school, and the summer after I graduated is when the course went through their 6 million dollar renovation. I hadn’t played the course in 5 years and was excited to get back and see how it was improved. Not only were the greens in horrid condition, but you couldn’t tell the difference between fairway and rough which is the whole point of playing a nice golf course. It looked like all the renovation went towards the shop and they didn’t touch the course, only switched the 9’s. I’m doing everyone a favor by saying save your money or play a municipal course somewhere closer to downtown, it’s most definitely worth more than to drive all the way out to the middle of nowhere and spend $60 to hit a ball down a brown field and putt across dried up dirt and a few blades of grass. Hopefully they can close down soon and put a real course out there, it’s great land with lots of development around it. If anything, the course lowers the value of everything out there. Disappointed in the way they market the course too, making it look so pure and beautiful when in reality it’s nothing but a junkyard with 18 flagsticks scattered around. SAVE YOUR MONEY
Untrustworthy
I have accidentally left a watch, a jacket, and a range finder in the cart after a round during the 2.5 years i have been a member. Each time I made this mistake, my stuff was stolen. I cannot trust the staff, and will not return again after my membership ends this month. Cerraintly not the "friendliest course in texas" as is claims to be.
Horrible greens
As of today May 16th the greens are horrible. They are so bouncy and bare. I wouldn’t pay above $30 to play this course.
Felt great to get out on the course again
Being out on the course today made me feel normal again. With all the chaos going on this was my first time out for leisure time. The course was in great Condition the staff maintained social distancing guidelines which put me more at ease and able to enjoy my round . There were some people on the course but it was managed very well and we didn’t run into or cross paths with anyone. I would recommend this course to anyone. It felt great to get out on the course again. Thank you Golf Clubs of Texas.
First and Last Time
Not sure what course all the 5 star reviewers were playing but jeez. This course was absolutely abysmal. No grass on tee boxes or fairways and the greens were atrocious. Extremely bumpy, inconsistent and spots with no grass. First and last time I will be playing here. Definite waste of money for 70 dollars.
