Not worth it anymore
Stonewall seems to be declining, attention to detail is slipping. Another course that charges the same for walking as riding which is ridiculous, and I always hear about pace of play, well when your average rider is probably 20 handicap or more and the average walker is under 20, there is no way carts are faster, and Ive proven that time and time again, 4 hours on the nose for our foursome walking.
No drinking water on the course is getting old, Makray does it right, bottled water in coolers on the course, and low and behold they charge a little less than Stonewall, much nicer course. I won't be playing here anymore this year or recommend this place.

We really enjoy playing this course. Just wish it was a little cheaper. We come when we find a good deal.

Not worth the money
I used to love this course , they don’t pay attention to detail anymore, tee boxes are horribly beat up, greens are pitted bad, not drinking water on course, charge walkers same rates as carts, and stop saying it’s for pace of play, walkers typically are always advanced golfers, and everyone walks straight to their ball instead of making 2 stops per cart, it’s pure greed.
I won’t play this course again until things change.
Makray is a much better bang for your buck in this price point.

A must play
I've played this course dozens of times and it never gets old. The layout is superb and offers a variety of different shots at each hole. Greens are already in great condition and as the trees/plants bloom the course only gets better. Best track in Lake County, IL.
Just opened. Wet and windy day. Course is still nice to play. Great layout. Cart path only today, got a lot of exercise.
Great/Challenging Course
Been awhile since I’ve played it. Course in better shape than some of the ones that I’ve played so far. Obviously some holes my eyes don’t agree with, but scored pretty good for early in the season.
Options on Every hole
This course challenges your approach shots especially to many of its greens, joined up with a member on four and appreciated his help, especially from the tee, for me it’s a course I could play over and over…..

All cart path only!! Be aware of this!!
We had a hard time while it was cart path only (no exception). The courses are wide and huge to walk back and forth to our cart. Even afternoon, no frost at all, they didn't allow us at least 90 degree(even no rain for 4-5days)!!! There wasn't any mention about this course is cart path only. If we knew that before making a tee time, we supposed not to make a reservation!!! Be aware of this course during late fall, specially old woman, so hard to play when cart path only. I will not recommend here during fall. Also, not good condition on green because many devots and goose poops were not repaired /removed. It was not worth of my money.

Worth the trip
Great outing today. Course is set up well to be tough but fair. Course was in good condition. Friendly staff and a decent pace of play. It was worth the 45 minutes trip to course.

Soaked
Played here before, great course and nice layout. Today it was completely soaked and cart path only. I miss the days when Golfnow used to alert people to things like that and aerated greens. It's a great course but I wouldn't have driven 1.5 hours to play in those conditions.

We do have walking rates on weekend mornings and as the day goes on, our rate includes a complimentary cart during certain times. Our starter does inform all groups of our new Water/Ice Station after holes 6 & 14 along with vending options. Also, our rates that include cart are not based on pace of play or the handicap of the golfer whether they are a walker or a rider. Thanks for playing. Hope to see you again.
