Stonewall Orchard Golf Club

This is one of the best courses in northern Illinois if not the entire state. It is very well maintained. Greens are very true and the starter will asset you in selecting appropriate tees for your ability.

We faced every kind of weather today (7/23/2021) including a rain delay and incredible humidity. The refreshment cart came around frequently and was well stocked - takes cash and plastic.

The entire staff is friendly and helpful. And they are fully staffed despite post-pandemic labor shortages. There were beverage cart operators, attendants at the bag drop to get your clubs on and off the cart and get your clubs cleaned. Food service is excellent and available through the cart digital access. The carts are plush and comfortable. There are rain covers for your clubs, a ball and club washer on board. Other amenities include an excellent practice facility and a beautiful clubhouse.

My only complaint is that the rangers are unable to maintain pace of play. Although they are authorized to make groups move up a hole if they lag terribly, they generally don't do this and at times you can face a near five hour round.

Played on Saturday morning, which i don’t normally do due to slower pace. Not here. The pace was excellent and we finished a few minutes under 4 hours and never caught up or were pushed along the whole round. The course is long, fair , and offers a nice variety of hole layouts. The course is in nice shape as are the greens. Nothing g i appreciate more then a good range, short game area and putting facility to ready up for a good challenge. BYW, i played two weeks in a row.

My first hole in one on the 13th hole 150 yards 5 iron. Needless to say it was a great day for me

The course was in very good shape. The starter suggested playing white tees. i guess they must get a lot of newer golfers. if you can get the ball off the tee 150-175 yards without a horrible hook or slice, this course is gettable. We should have played golds, if not silver, and I'm a 19.

Putting is among the easiest for a course of this caliber. Nothing tricky or overly STIP...in fact, STIP was not as high as we were told, if you ask me.

A very, very enjoyable round and worth the trek.

Two things - with nowhere to go in front of us, we had the group behind us hit into us numerous times and actually hit the cart we were in. 2nd - My playing partners and I all thought the greens were very shaggy and slow. All other area courses have better greens - more fiar and in better shape.

The layout is changing but fair, the staff is great. They have a nice short game practice area that’s included in the greens fee.

I’ve wanted to play this course for many years and I’m happy I was able to play here today. The course is well laid out and feels more like a county farm vs a Chicago area suburb. The course is challenging for any golfer (myself included as a 13 handicap). This year so far has been a drought in this area and Stonewall Orchard only shows this in some of the heavy traffic areas. I feel the $77 weekday rate is very fair for this course....I wish I could have taken advantage of the late afternoon HOT Deals on Golfnow that saved $20+ per golfer. I’d certainly want to play this again in the future.

I gave a a four star for course condition only because of the goose poop on the green of the eighteenth green. Other than that the course is pristine even in the middle of a drought.

Great conditions. Always great to see multiple course marshall's keeping the pace of play moving, as well as clearing the course just prior to a much needed, short, downpour. We will be back
