Stonewall Orchard Golf Club

I played this course 5 or 6 years ago and I remember it being a much better experience. While it was still in good shape, I would say that it was only “above average” as opposed to “excellent.” The greens were decent and fast, which I liked, but some were faster and slower than others. Some pin placements were unrealistic for how fast the greens were rolling. Some of the cart paths were in pretty bad shape. To continue to be touted as one of the top couses in the area, they are going to need to pour some money into this course. Its scenic, but not worth more than $75.

Course is in good shape. Some weeds in the fairways. Kind of odd. Pace of play was exactly what the starter said. Everyone who worked at the course was very kind and helpful. Course presented challenges and was nice to play. A little pricey for a round of golf; however, pretty much everything today is a little pricey. Thank You Stonewall Orchard for providing a challenging Nd fun day.

Not a bad track but definitely not worth over $100 a person course is in okay shape, but not great. They're definitely more concerned with where your cart is located and the condition of the course. In the cart you were constantly reminded every few minutes to stay on cart paths or to only use the 90°rule. At least once per hole it would switch from the map of the hole to some message about staying on the cart path or not being too close to the green. Mind you we were on the cart path the entire time or at 90° the fairway. That alongside the signage is overwhelming. Several times throughout the day we'd have to back our cart up when it's already on the cart path because it thinks it's not. This happened to everybody in our foursome. If the cart wasn't yelling at us about that it was giving us warning messages about pace of play. This was constant. There was nothing we could do as the force ahead of us was also slowed down. Again I feel that the need to micromanage is definitely greater than the need to take care of the course conditions.

More dried out than I remember from a couple years ago. And it’s only mid June.

Pace of play was poor but the ranger did a great job telling the slow groups to pick up the pace and didn’t blame us when it obviously wasn’t. Highlands of Elgin could learn a thing from Stonewall.

Golf carts were super comfortable. Plush seats. Nice gps with correct pin placements. Club washer too.

Great course. Fun to play. For the price they charge, the course should be in a little better shape, especially the bunkers.

I play Stonewall half a dozen times every year… that’s ending. Normally the place is in immaculate shape and pristine condition, with a $125 round cost it used to be worth every penny. This round found weeds, burnout spots, creeping Charlie’s, and overall poor conditions that I’ve never scene over the past 15 years and close to 100 rounds played there. Really disappointed they let this place go and it’s not being held to the standard of previous years, used to be a great course.

The lay out is very good ,till you get to 18 green , had wedge in hit the front of green ,off the back in the water I hit as very high ball ,gree slopes to water to hard to hold blow that green up and start again

They think they're Cog Hill. $100+ round for a mediocre experience. Easily a $40 to $50 round - not worth any more than that.

Great conditions, fun but getable layout. One of more enjoyable rounds I've had at a Chicago public track - great pace of play and views.

Course is difficult and in good condition for March. Greens were not nearly as fast as they typically are, but that's March. The issue is the money for this time of year. $83 is too much right now. It's a $60 course in these winter conditions. That said it's a $100 course in summer and fall.
