Teravista Golf Club
About
Despite its Hill Country setting, Teravista Golf Club has more of a links feel, with wide-open fairways and casually rolling mounds. About 60-70 white bunkers spot the layout, and water comes into play on 14 holes. No. 17 is the no. 1 handicap, playing a long 443 yards from the tips. The hole bends left toward a kidney-shaped green that is surrounded by three bunkers. Teravista G.C. offers a beginner-friendly tee box that plays only 3,744 yards, making it enjoyable for any skill level. The National Golf Course Owners Association has dubbed this 18-hole Clifton-Ezell-Clifton design a "Beginner Friendly Course."

Course in great shape
Greens are fast and smooth. Fairways are fast too. Overall course is in great shape.
Fun Sunday
Teravista is a solid course. It was in great shape for February and the pace of play for our twosome was just at 4 hours. We were stuck behind a slow foursome on the front but after playing through on ten were able to fly. Great value and nice staff. Thanks Tera!
Good course at a good price
Friendly staff. Good course. Need ball cleaners installed. Pace of play was pretty good.
Play Elsewhere
The course has gone severely downhill since a change of ownership in early 2015. Pace of play is horrible. Friendly, competent staff members have been summarily fired. The few remaining friendly staff members are afraid for their jobs. Bunkers are almost unplayable and consist of farm land DIRT. Promises to upgrade/redo bunkers are a joke. Old matting shows through in the bottom of most bunkers. Water hazard marking is nonexistent (essential for tournament play). Play elsewhere or give up the game.
One issue
My only fault with this course is they lack good yardage markers. Without a GPS, you are left guessing.
Nice Course
This is an excellent course if you prefer open fairways but still very challenging. Busy course so pace of play was very slow but we'll worth the money.
Played 36 on this day
In town for business and was deciding which course to play. Chose Teravista and glad we did. Staff was very friendly. The round started right on time and even though the course was pretty busy the pace of play was right on. It was a fun course to play. Several blind shots. The greens were in great shape.
The food and drinks in the clubhouse were excellent. We decided to play another 18 and they fit us right in. Planning to play this one again.
slowest play for 4th weekend round in a row!
Ridiculous pace of play. This is a continual issue at this course and the mgmt apparently has no clue how to fix it. Started ng at #2 there were 3 groups on every hole 1.5 hours to play 6 holes!! It the calicer of golfer playing at TeraVista, they have no clue how to play in a timely fashion, not a clue what "yield to faster players" means. If mgmt would:
-put a sign up on the check in counter "this course adheres to a minimum 4 hour round of golf. You must keep pace or be asked to vacate the course."
- on check in have the counter person verbally say this.
-in the little plastic thing gang ng on the cart, put tips to speed up play and "4 hour or be maximum"
- Actually have marshalls "Marshall"
-Have a Pro or Asst Pro get outta the office and help part rol the course and when the Marshall isolates cause. of slow play, they ask them to either skip a hole, let faster groups thru, or leave.
TeraVista, your reputation as a 5hour round is spreading among the golf community. We can t get 4 player to come out there anymore. We are done coming out.
W a K e up!!
great layout and staff
I have been wanting to play this course for a while now and finally got the chance. I really like the layout. It is fairly challenging, but not so much that the weekend warrior will be intimidated.
Great course for the price.
I got a great rate for this course. Realized why the great rate as I approached the golf course. There was a tournament about to start at the same time. Took over 5 hours to complete the round. Wish I would have known prior to, selecting this tee time.
poor management
Played sat afternoon, waited on every hole! After second tee box, four groups on every hole through hole ten, quit before playing par 3 because six carts on the 11th tee box. On the third hole we met the marshall very confused about slow play conditions, told us and groups ahead of us contradictary information he didn't even attempt to help speed up play! A member in our group was so mad he called the pro shop at the 8th tee box, asked to get a marshall out to help with the slow play situation. 20 minutes later some kids showed up, didn't talk to any of the groups and didn't talk to us about the problem, no results total waist of time. After playing 10 holes in three hours plus, I talked to the pro in the golf shop, poor attitude, tried to use tournament play as excuse for the slow play! The conditions of the sand traps were a joke, hard packed dirt, water in the bunkers. You could tell no one had raked or even attempted to work on the bunkers at all for several months! Extremely poor for a semi public resort course! Dissapointed Golfer
Nice Test
I would have given the course conditions five stars if the bunkers would have had decent sand in them. I grew up on links courses, and always enjoy playing that style of golf. I think I used every club in my bag. But the only hole that the sand wasn't rock hard, was the first hole. If that ever gets fixed, this will become my "go to" course....even though it's a bit of a drive from my house.
Perfect
One of the top courses I have played in texas. Definitely a course I will play again. Greens were fast and was challenging.
Good course
After talking to a bunch of locals. Chose here for day one of trip. Course a bit dry, a little rough in spots, but decent value.
Abnormally Slow this day!
I play her 4 or 5 times per month. The course is always in good to great shape depending on the greens. Seems like there has been a real effort to improve loam in the greens as it has been top dressed at least 4x this year. Makes for very inconsistent green speeds. Tee to green this course is always very good. Generally I play mid day as a twosome and we typically fly around in around 3 hours. On this particular Friday afternoon it took us nearly 5.5 hours as a twosome, because the 3rd did not show up. It was difficult to focus at times when you wait for 10 minutes on a tee box. Course is great, but a 5.5 hour round on any day and at any time is ridiculous. You can shhot 65 and play fast and you can shoot 110 and play fast.
new mgmt take notice ...SLOW PLAY is killin Teravista!
Once again played Saturday and Sunday with 2 members
Only to have our golf weekend ruined by slow play! I know your course is busy and it is hard to control but in the long run you are getting a terrible reputation as the slowest place in the area to play. Saturday morning 3 hour and 1212 minutes for 9 holes!!!! Again we quit at the turn. Sunday we thought we d try arround noon thinking most might be watching football.
On #3(par3) there was a group on the green, 2 groups at the tee waiting. We called in. I ll give em credit someone came right out we stopped em on 4 to as what was going on. Answer "it's slow" No kidding!. We decided to go find an open hole. 4,5,6,7 all stacked up and we find out why on 8. A freakin 2 some who said "e are newbies" were holding up the front side. What was the Marshall seeing.
We played thru the newbies paired up with another 2 some on 10 and it was much better but we had to skip 4 holes. That just ridiculous. Tera time to start asking hackers to leave the course. Ya gotta do something. Waiting g 10-15 minutes on the tee and on shots to the green is horrible.
Good course near Round Rock, TX
Good greens, nice course layout, challenging with a couple risk/ reward holes. The growth needs trimmed down in front of a couple of tees so the landing area can be viewed.
pace of play bad!!
Enjoy this course but like most Austin courses, the pace of play is atrocious. I don't know why courses don't really strongly enforce this. We played with a couple members Friday at 8ish. The course was backed up, 2 1/2 hour front!! Waited on every shot while we watched the 2groups in front of us do all the wrong things to create slow play. 1-hit 2balls off every tee. 2-the 4some went to one ball, watched as that golfer hit, then went to the next ball!(SCATTER for goodness sakes!!)
3-played every I mean every shot no idea of the concept of "trips are max!"
4-walked all around every putt from every angle only to miss it and mark a 1 footer.
5-search endlessly for a lost ball with zero idea to look back and see there were 2 groups on the tee.
This was the case there Saturday and Monday when we played, never finished ONE ROUND!!!!
I know it s tough but here are my suggestions.
1-do not let hackers off the first few tee times, this it an easy fix.
2-when golfers check the n counter guy says "please be aware of pace of play, let faster groups thru, 2 hour each side is max,fix ball marks on greens and rake the traps if you hit from one.
3- call into pro shop if it is getting backed up.
Have this repeated from the starter. Give the Marshall full authority to manage slow groups...warn em,make em skip a hole or pull over to let faster group thru, ask boot em off the course.
Please Austin golf pros, get together and make an effort to fix this, it is ruining golf.
Excellent Value
The course was very well maintained, staff was friendly, great value.
