Teravista Golf Club
About
Despite its Hill Country setting, Teravista Golf Club has more of a links feel, with wide-open fairways and casually rolling mounds. About 60-70 white bunkers spot the layout, and water comes into play on 14 holes. No. 17 is the no. 1 handicap, playing a long 443 yards from the tips. The hole bends left toward a kidney-shaped green that is surrounded by three bunkers. Teravista G.C. offers a beginner-friendly tee box that plays only 3,744 yards, making it enjoyable for any skill level. The National Golf Course Owners Association has dubbed this 18-hole Clifton-Ezell-Clifton design a "Beginner Friendly Course."

Slow ride take it easy
Friday late afternoon slow play requiring us to take it easy Fairways were excellent, tee boxes excellent, but traps were crusty and gritty and some with water puddles, and greens gave an explosion of sand and would not hold on approach shots real well but was an enjoyable day of golf. Good weather and a challenging course layout.
Good course, good price
Currently the course is in great shape with the exception of the traps but they are working on them.
Teravista is worth your time
So, I moved to Texas about four years ago and the turf, golf, wind, everything golf is so different here from Ohio. The ground is so hard, greens are like concrete... at some courses... Teravista is one of the best groomed, waters and cared for courses. The greens are beautiful, albeit quite a bit inconsistent regarding speed from 1 to 18, I would like to see the greens rolled possibly throughout the day. The fairways are in great shape, the rough can be costly. This course requires some shot shaping to really be in position to score, you are going to have to both fade and draw the ball to really be in the ideal positions.
The traps could use some fresh sand as the recent rains have really washed away the sand trap quality. I just about broke my wrist in one of the traps it was like concrete... I would not let that dictate not playing at this course... just stay out of the traps and every other lie will be fair and as expected when you look at them.
The staff at Teravista is really nice and takes care to make sure you get checked in and off the tee on time if not early. The starter is a really nice gentlemen that will do everything he can to not only get you moving right he will also adjust pairings if he see's folks that just don't match up. He always has a smile and it is pleasant to pull up to the first tee which is rare sometimes.
I would recommend that you do not think about walking this course, it has some distance between the holes on the other side of the development. In addition to that they have just purchased new golf carts that run great, however they no longer have GPS. I emailed the GM to ask about yardage books and they are currently working on them as both a resource and souvenir
Fun course to play
Nice course to play with a nice layout. Greens were fast but fair. Fairways were fast and ball ran forever. Bunkers were mostly dirt and badly in need to be sand filled. Had a nice time joining up with a fellow single.
Rude golf pro
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The bunkers showed damage from the recent rains. The head golf pro was rude to me for getting mud on the tires of the golf cart. I saw him duff his tee shot as he played through and I birdied the hole. That's golf karma baby.
on a fast doenward spiral
New mgmt in fully entrenched since jan'15 and course is showing signs of going downhill fast. Had late tee time, 12ish. Loaded up,got sandwich n drink went to hit balls. I have never seen a worse driving range. Grass was at least 2" high, under shaggy grass was a thick sand base. You d hit a shot and it was like a powder puff, ball went nowhere,3" sand divot...horrible. While we were trying to warm up the cart kids took our cart in spite of there being drinks and food in it!(we had taken our bags to the range)
Unreal! When we asked the kid "what did you do with our food" he said " oh, I just threw it out."
We had to go to the tee and almost 2 1\2 hours later we made it to #9 tee box!! Straight to the car...trunk slammer. Traps still have no sand but hard dirt. Place will look like a muny in a year.
You sure do play here quite often, so it must not be that bad.
Everything's nice but the bunkers
The fairways and greens were in nice shape, but wooooooooo nelly, the bunkers were rocked up more than Chris, as in Chris Rock.
I had a couple of buddies play out of the bunkers and damage clubs due to the conditions.
That's the only reason I wouldn't recommend this course.......the bunkers. Not everyone is as fortunate as I was to not have to hit out of them.
outstanding condition
I would say this course is very challenging and rewarding you might mistaken the course for a PGA course. Excellent greens that roll true and fast wow. I'll definitely come back and play and tell everyone about trying it out.
Course is vanilla
No memorable holes. Course was moderately flooded due to recent rains
Teravista was fun
Course in great shape..........greens a little slow........the recent rains have really done a lot for golf courses in the Austin area.
Good Course
Enjoyed the golf even in the rain! Lots of cart driving.
Texas Style
Very nice course design. Challenging fairways and holes. My only set back was I was not use to the greens, a little on the rough side. I was told by a local the have to stay high or risk the chance of the grass burning from the Texas sun.
awesome
I loved this cource because my bes score was done at here.
agree woth jinx28
TeraVista read these reviews!! New owners took over in Jan 15. Nothing has changed...getting worse.slow play, bunker virtually unplayable, zero attention by anyone there to fix things.even the greens are going downhill. How they can expect to attract golfers is beyond me. I was with 3 members playing their last month there, they are quoting. Horrible excuse for a course.
This course was great
The staff and price was perfect and I will be back for sure
Horrible
I decided to give this course a second chance after playing here 2 years ago. Mistake on my part. Asked for a cart after paying and had to wait at least 30 minutes to get one. That in turn put us 20 minutes behind our scheduled tee time. There was no one starting at hole number one so we had to wait until it was our turn in line. Pace of play was turtle speed at best. My threesome caught up to the twosome in front of us on hole 2 and we ended up playing 5 through hole 14. We waited on every hole. Ran out of daylight after that. Greens in my opinion are just about as bad as they could be. Sand traps need a complete overhaul. Fairways were actually not bad. Beverage cart came by on hole 4 and we never saw it again. I wouldn't recommend playing this course until I see more positive reviews. You could almost compare this experience to stacking cattle in a trailer heading to auction.
that's was perfect Sunday afternoon with teravista
Its my first time on teravista golf club.
I am so satisfied with this club.
Everything is good ; cost, green condition, free beer (2 cup of glass) and beautiful scene.
I will visit here in next weekend again.
While we are young!
Pace of play was very slow. A 5 hour and 20 minute round is not good, especially with no tournaments to blame for clogging up the course. No marshals to help move groups along; only excuses by the pro shop staff. There are other options in the area; consider those.
Lots of play and the cart died.
First time to play in many years. Fairways were nice but the greens had been recently punched. They were bumpy and slow as a result.
There was a cart shortage. One of the carts died after 5 holes. Called the clubhouse for help and started walking. Picked up anotherr cart at the turn for the backside.
Play was slow, first tee backed up but I enjoyed as it was the first time for me to play this year.
I hope it is not so busy next time.
Course Management needs help
As a Teravista resident the course is very convenient for me and generally very challenging and fun to play. There are lots of complaints about the condition, pace of play etc. This is a direct reflection of the management of the course. I don't see the sense of urgency or concern for the issues that are a constant theme of complaints from many different players. The terrible bunker condition is not something new....it has been that way for years. Would not be so bad if there was only a few bunkers on the course but there are many and almost every one is not only a hazard to play but in some cases damaging to your clubs as there are small rocks in them. But again, a reflection on the management. The #1 tee starter position is a constant fiasco. Not controlled and people teeing off before they are supposed to so you get unnecessary back ups on the first tee. The continuous pile ups on holes, sometimes 3 and even 4 groups on the same hole. Really, get someone out there to manage it. Now for the last point. The course recently brought on some young folks to run carts around the parking lot. how about having them cruise the course, ensure the bunkers are raked (if you can find a working rake) and report back to the clubhouse on slow play and pile ups. Clubhouse has GPS monitoring but none knows how to read it. Not all bad....the practice areas are great, the course has a nice layout and there are some guys in the pro shop (Bill) that are customer friendly and know what they are doing. I would welcome the opportunity to sit down with the pro and management and discuss how to improve....it is not rocket science but need a staff that cares about the customer experience.
When are you going to challenge him to game?????
Dude I got $1000 or my own money on the golf pro! I have seen him play and he would drum you. I personally watched him shoot 68 at a course tougher than Teravista.
