About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Fantastic Day
Played with my Son-in-Law & Grandson today, was a very hot day, 105 at 3:30, but was able to complete a round in 4:15, course was in great shape, pace was on par, definitely will be back
One of the best courses I’ve played in the Austin area
One of the best courses ive played in the area for the price. Great conditions and some of the best rolling greens I have seen so far out of the 10 courses I’ve played in my short time in Austin. The course is pretty open but still challenging with the opportunity for all levels to have fun.
Greens were fast and smooth. Bunkers were excellent. Pace of play was great. 3.5 hours for our foursome
Thank you staff
The staff, especially Bryce at the check in were exceptionally helpful. I made anl error in booking a hot deal so that our foursome was divided into two pairs but at two different times. This is a problem that I did not expect the pro shop to untangle- it was MY mistake. But when the other party checked in, Bryce asked them if they would mind teeing off 18 minutes later and they were fine with that arrangement. So, I want to commend Bryce and the starter for seeing this thru even though it would hav been entirely appropriate for them to just say 'sorry'
The course itself is in great shape. Fairways, greens, tee boxes- all great. Course is forgiving yet you have to do your work if you want to card a score a birdie
The practice facility is the best in town- the practice area is worth the price of admission alone
Course great by no releaf from the heat.
Course is in excellent condition. All tee boxes fairways and greens are very well kept. There is just nothing near any of the tees, fairways or green to duck under to get releaf from the heat. but otherwise exceptional golf course. Cart person came out 3 or 4 times during the round so we bought gatorade to deal with the heat.
Star Ranch
Course in great condition. Greens were fast today.
All tee boxes were as green as can be. All greens were immaculate. Only some fairways had some browning of the grass. But the majority of fairways where immaculate. The cart lady showed up several times in athe100+ degree heat and the prices of the refreshments where not ridiculously overpriced. Over course is in excellent condition. Only issue we had was the range was closed when we arrived an hour before our round so we could only pitch and putt.
Great course, unfriendly marshalls
This is by far my favorite course to play in and around the Austin area. Beautiful layout, challenging holes, and free range balls with your round. Pace of play was slow and when we called the office to the Marshalls to send someone to visit with the group, the man came back to us and said they were giving him crap so he didn’t want to push them harder. Other than that, I’ll keep playing here.
Always Fun To Play Here
I have played here a lot and it is one of my favorite places to play. Easy to score low here. Most holes are easy except 14 where you have to hit up on a shelf and over a creek. Lost several balls trying to figure this one out. Best to lay up 90 yards and use a pitching wedge to get up there.
Always refreshing to play Star Ranch
It’s been a few years since I last played. I was very surprised to see the positive changes on the course. Great practice areas, tee box and fairways were in excellent condition! Overall course looked fantastic, including the white sand bunkers. Will play again. Pace of play was under 4 for 2 players.
One of my Favs
Always loved this course. Just moved backed to Austin about a month ago and had been wanting to play it. Got a last minute tee time had THE BEST ROUND EVER! My 1st hole in one on the par 3 7th. Will always come back and play this course
