About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Star Ranch
Course in great condition. Greens were fast today.
All tee boxes were as green as can be. All greens were immaculate. Only some fairways had some browning of the grass. But the majority of fairways where immaculate. The cart lady showed up several times in athe100+ degree heat and the prices of the refreshments where not ridiculously overpriced. Over course is in excellent condition. Only issue we had was the range was closed when we arrived an hour before our round so we could only pitch and putt.
Great course, unfriendly marshalls
This is by far my favorite course to play in and around the Austin area. Beautiful layout, challenging holes, and free range balls with your round. Pace of play was slow and when we called the office to the Marshalls to send someone to visit with the group, the man came back to us and said they were giving him crap so he didn’t want to push them harder. Other than that, I’ll keep playing here.
Always Fun To Play Here
I have played here a lot and it is one of my favorite places to play. Easy to score low here. Most holes are easy except 14 where you have to hit up on a shelf and over a creek. Lost several balls trying to figure this one out. Best to lay up 90 yards and use a pitching wedge to get up there.
Always refreshing to play Star Ranch
It’s been a few years since I last played. I was very surprised to see the positive changes on the course. Great practice areas, tee box and fairways were in excellent condition! Overall course looked fantastic, including the white sand bunkers. Will play again. Pace of play was under 4 for 2 players.
One of my Favs
Always loved this course. Just moved backed to Austin about a month ago and had been wanting to play it. Got a last minute tee time had THE BEST ROUND EVER! My 1st hole in one on the par 3 7th. Will always come back and play this course
Only $70?
This course was amazing. The courses that I typically play in and around ATL are the same price and half as nice from a conditions standpoint. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were awesome. Couldn’t complain in anyway about this course.

Terrible service
Placed us behind a group of 5 golfers because they were members. Slowed us down the entire front 9. When the marshal came by I asked him if he could mention it to them and he told me no because 'they pay a lot of money here'. I told him I didn't like that answer as we were charged full price and he said 'that's the only answer you're going to get'. As we approached the club house after the front nine he approached me again and said I had 'no right' to complain as they were maintaining pace of play. I was also told I can't get my money back because I booked through golf now.
Shame as the course is in fantastic condition.
Open Layout
Course in good shape overall, greens had been recently spiked so not as smooth as normal. Sand traps were hard packed in many areas, rain previous day was the reason and they did not have maintenance rake them since the rain. But good outing and nice time.
