About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Great round, but hurried
Was having a great time and round with some friends. But on 16, we were told to hurry play. We had only been on the course for three hours. Ahead in time.
Other than that, the course was wonderful and lush. Didn’t hit a bunker until 18, but was nice sand and kept.
This is a great course, and I’d recommend to anyone. Not too difficult, although I did play from the white tees today. Will play blues from now on.
Maybe a membership in the future?!?!?
One of my favorites
well-maintained, popular with the locals; forgiving but some holes are challenging with lots of beaches :) just a course that you want to come back over and over again.
Great course perfect condition Staff friendly and plenty of beverage carts coming around.
Course was in great shape from tee to green. Check in was easy. Range was in good shape. Starter got us off a little early. Only complaint is you can’t drive your cart to your vehicle in the parking lot and it was raining when we finished so I had to trek across the parking lot in the rain instead of under cover.
Always a pleasure to play Star Ranch
Star Ranch is my favorite place to play when visiting the area. Staff is always helpful and friendly. The layout of the course Is fun and fair. One of favorite things about the course is that driver off the tee is not necessary on every par 4. Greens where rolling well and fairways where in great condition.
Love Star Ranch - Greens punched and sanded recently
Nice people in a nice setting. 2 things to know. 1) absolutely no coolers (even with water and food) allowed and you have to carry your bags to the cart area (ie no carts in the parking lot) and 2) the greens look to have been punched and sanded on Monday 8/10. We were not made aware of that and were a little surprised when we got there. Other than those issues, Star Ranch has always been a great place to play.
First Time
Overall course was excellent and well maintained, The greens were sand down for maintenance care., so made putting very difficult, but I understand it’s all for the best. I would gladly play this great course again and would highly recommend it.
The Golf Club at Star Ranch
This is a fun course that offers a few challenges. The biggest drawback today was that the greens had recently been punched and sanded, so they were a bit difficult to play on.
