About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Great practice area, friendly staff. Played nine in 2 hours. Course in great condition.

Very windy day, so turned a somewhat easy course into a more difficult venture Greens in nice shape and fairways are pretty good for early March, especially considering the bad weather a couple weeks ago.
Very Nice Condition
Overall course in nice shape and overall very open compared to many courses I play. Traps are the major hazard and they are putting nice sand and building them up. Greens are a little thin this time of year but still run very true. Variety of tee selections make it playable for any caliber of player.
Stupid Rules regarding Carts in Parking loty
No carts permitted in parking lot is totally stupid and causes older player to carry clubs long distances. No one is their to assist and staff is useless. Stupid, and no other course in Austin would consider such BS!!!!!!
This course is very nice. we played on a very windy day.
I booked for 2 and we started around 12:50 pm, slightly ahead of schedule. The course is defined by sand traps and water. The course was busy and as a twosome it was a relaxing round. I enjoyed the course and the play and will go there again.
The only negatives were players were not sanding on the fairway and not cleaning divots on the green.
Open fairways, beware of bunkers
It was a very rainy day, not sure if we would be able to play. Course drains fairly well, and not that many wet areas for amount of rain falling. Greens very nice and generally open fairways, but enough bunkers to require somewhat accurate drives. Easier than Forest Creek, but I like to play various courses for change of pace.
Enjoyable experience
Links style layout was fun, greens were in great shape. Great practice facilities with range, short game area and a few practice greens.
Average course
Layout is not very challenging. Overall, course is in good condition, staff are friendly.
