About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 71
Length 7017 yards
Slope 130
Rating 73.5

Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.

The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.

No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.

Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Must Play

This is by far the best course in the area. Greens are always in great condition. Course is well kept and not too difficult but still presents enough challenging holes to keep the game interesting for an amateur player. Excellent driving range and putting/chipping greens with range balls complimentary with the greens fee. Highly recommend.

Great shape... but you pay for it

This is a really good course. It was in excellent shape on the day we played. The greens rolled nice and true. The fairways were healthy and trimmed. It's just too expensive for what IT is. It's not a championship course done by an elite architect. It's a neighborhood course thirty minutes outside of Austin. It's a great course just highly overpriced. We had a great time.

Nice course

It’s long, it curves but it’s enjoyable.

Feels like a course that you may encounter in a resort.

Not so great is the constant view of apartments surrounding it, but doesn’t bother me.

Overall good course, and enjoyable.
