About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Star Ranch
Had great weather, the course was in good shape and pace of play was very good. The greens were running true and easy to ready...consistent hole to hole. Would recommend.
Greens were in good shape
This course was in great shape. Having played many local courses, I found the greens in better shape than most! Play forward and have a blast!
Good Value
Received a good price via Golf Now for Easter. Course in pretty good condition despite the hard winter.
Day on the Course
We enjoyed the golf plus the breakfast and lunch buffet.
Nice layout
18 holes in under 4 hrs. on a nicely designed layout on a windy day. Good conditions and staff was friendly. Generous landing areas and greens rolled true.
Course is looking GREAT!
This course is in the best shape I've ever seen it and definitely the best out of the last 7 or so courses I've played in Austin lately. The greens were immaculate! I will be back ASAP and am disappointed it took me this long to find out this course was in such great shape this year.
My only complaint if anything is the sand isn't up to par with similar priced courses. Its not awful but just not as good. Took a couple of shots to figure it out.

Great shape
Star Ranch is always a pleasure to play especially when you have a good round. The greens were in nice shape as were the fairways so early in the spring. The added value of being able to eat a breakfast and lunch buffet with your green fee is an extra bonus!
Must play course
Star Ranch is very much worth playing. The folks there are very hospitable and take pride in their facilities. Will definitely play again when in Austin area.
Dry, Ball rolls to far
Could be a really nice course but way to dry. Other than that, Very much enjoyed playing Star ranch. Got breakfast and lunch by booking directly thru course, Can't beat that. Just needs watered.
One of the best deals in North Austin area!
Course is in great shape. Staff was friendly and pace of play was spot on. The only disappointment would be the lack of readily visible yardage markers. Since they don't have GPS on their carts, which IMHO they should, given the prices charged, they should have at least well defined yardage markers. Either stripes on the cart path or more yardage poles in the fairways at 100, 150, 200 and 250. I guess i'll have to join the herd and invest in a handheld GPS. Still a great course!
Excellent practice facility and course was in fantastic shape.
The course was in fantastic shape. The starter was a very personable gentleman and worked with us as a couple of the guys playing were coming from San Antonio and were running a little late. In fact, he even took a cart up to the parking lot so they could get to the #1 tee as fast as possible. The pace of play was a little slower than we thought it should be; however, it was such a great day that it did not really matter.
Wonderful Course - Great Condition!
From tee to green the course was in great condition, greens rolled true and the layout is tremendous. The recent rains are beginning to heal the brown spots in the fairways. This is truly a gem, great practice facility as well.

One of my favorite courses. Super easy to get to - Tolls make it easy - but you can cut through the Round Rock Neighborhoods
Great course. Not crazy difficult (from the Blues), but it can go long if you can with the Golds.
Always in great shape - they let you know if they are aerated and the buffet deal is actually pretty good if you play morning golf (which gets you Breakfast and Lunch).
One of my favorite courses and i consider it just northeast Round Rock. It's kind of like an easier version of Shadowglen (in Manor), and it's very similar to Roy Kizer in Southeast Austin.
Practice chipping area and range are also more than adequate.
Great course conditions
For having got as little rain in the area this course was in great shape. The greens were soft and there were were few dry spots on the course. Not the hardest course you will play but there is plenty of sand and water to get you in trouble. Star also has a very nice practice facility which is free when you play so show up early!
Some of the best greens in town
As usual, Star Ranch has some of the best and most consistent greens in town. The course has a very fun layout and always a pleasure to play. We've had just enough rain this year so that the entire course is in excellent condition. I'd play here more if the price were a bit lower.
