Course Highlights
Star Ranch consistently impresses with its well-protected greens, wider fairways, and course conditions that rank among the best in the Austin metro. Complimentary range balls, a roaming beverage cart, and genuinely friendly staff deliver outstanding value for a public course.

About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 71
Length 7017 yards
Slope 130
Rating 73.5

Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.

The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.

No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.

Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Excellent round of golf!

My daughter and I played Star Ranch as a preview round for her HS District tournament. The course was in fantastic shape considering the lack of rain. The staff and maintenance crew have done an outstanding job maintaining the course. The greens were receptive and rolled true. An added bonus was the absolutely beautiful day with minimal wind!

Excellent Choice in Austin Area

The course was in excellent condition. Greens were absolutely gorgeous! The breakfast and lunch buffets were very nice as well. The pro shop is going through a quick renovation, but the staff couldn't have been more friendly.

Don't believe the Replay....

Marshals do nothing to speed up play. My friend and I were playing behind a foursome of old men playing a scramble. No one was in front of them and the marshals just drove past. Then we had to wait 30 minutes to re tee only to get stuck behind a threesome of hacks playing from the tips. Once again marshals did nothing. Save your money and play Crystal Falls instead.

Good price for all day of golf!

This was the first time I played Star Ranch, and I loved it! It was overcast and a little chilly but an amazing day none-the-less. We got there had breakfast and hit the driving range, (great practice grounds too, wow). We played 18 and it was the nicest course I have played in the Austin area. The yardage markers were hard to see, so bring your range finder. We had good lunch and played a second round, and had a blast. Can't wait to go back and master this course.

star ranch in great shape

the course was in great shape as the fairways were rolling and the greens held firm. They have done an excellent job of clearing the hazard areas along number 13 and number 3.

Better bring a good sand wedge.

The tee boxes were in very good shape. The fairways were plenty brown, but it's February and I like the extra 50 yds. of roll anyway. The greens were the best I've ever played on in central Texas. They were in better shape than a lot of courses keep theirs all year.

Great course

Condition was outstanding! The wind will blow on this course making it even more challenging. Lots of elevation changes and lots of bunkers. Fairways are beautiful and the greens were near perfect. I can't wait to play this course again. The green fee was very reasonable compared to courses like Grey Rock GC. Green fee for two was a total of $119 which included taxes and a riding cart. Very good value golf course.

The greens were in great shape.

This is the best deal around. The course is always in great shape and the greens were very good considering we are in winter. The practice facilities are excellent with separate driving range, short game area, and putting green. Wish it were close to my home.
