Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Course in Very Good Condition
Great course as always. Construction underway is q bit inconvenient. A pretty challenging course to play, but love playing Heritage Ranch.
Favorite Public Course in Dallas area
Play the course as much as I can, even though 30 minute drive to course. Challenging, yet playable layout, with lots of variation in holes throughout course.
Greenskeeper does an awesome job, and when conditions right can make the greens very fast.
For public course they provide amenities you find at private courses: meet you at car with cart, provide towels, friendly staff, with stocked beverage cart and nice clubhouse.
Unfortunately it is no longer a well kept secret,
Heritage Ranch in the Fall
Course is in excellent shape. However, the fairways are cut too short. The layout is very challenging.
Heritage Ranch
I am new to the area and while golfing another course, the golfer that I had been paired up with told me that Heritage Ranch was the best course in the area. I completely agreed with his recommendation because it is a very nice course and was in great shape.
Great Place
I was teamed up two other players. Both of them were long hitters and played better than I did. I should have used the white tees. But the greens were fast and perfect. Course plays long. I like it alot but I live 75 minutes away.
Members think they own it
I am sad to say I was pretty disappointed with today’s round.
My husband and I budgeted and paid about $150 to play here on a Sunday afternoon. We got out there at 11:30, and already saw groups in front of us that we would be having to wait on. Not a big deal though, like I said- Sunday at 11:30.
Holes 1-3 there was a group of 3 women that kept hitting into us. We got to the 4th hole and that group said they were going to play through us.... didn’t ask us, told us. We told them that that is not okay, because there are TWO groups that we are waiting on at each hole. At that point they said they would just skip a few holes and come back to play these. “They’re members here so they do that all the time”.
We get to the tee box on hole 5, and who are we having to wait on?? That group of ladies. They never skipped through, they just passed us, and now we have to wait on 3 groups.
After we played hole 5, there was a single man playing, and HE TOO kept hitting into us.... we figured why not let him play through us too? He will just have to wait at every tee box as well.... so he did.
Once we got to the turn, the starter let us know we were behind pace, and when we told him what was happening, he told us to “rectify it”. I’m pretty sure that’s his job, not ours.
The rest of the course we ended up consistently waiting behind several groups because it was so backed up, and the members all thought they could pass anybody. It took us over 5 hours to play.
All in all, I was very disappointed. We have been here several times, but this was definitely a negative experience. It will be a while before I come back here.
A Must Play
This is a very nice course in a gated community It is well taken care of. A couple of holes were shortened because work to the layout was underway. The bunkers have white soft sand. The greens were FAST. It is definitely a must play.
Interpersonal Skills Anyone?
I played this course because it's website says it's one rider per cart because of Covid concerns. However, those concerns disappear when you play a discounted round thru golfnow. Then you are told it's two riders per cart. When I objected I was told as much.
I spoke to management, who consented to allow me to ride single. However, instead of taking the opportunity to be magnanimous, I was scolded and told that if I ever came back on this deal to be prepared to ride double.
All in all,. I hardly felt welcome, and I certainly felt condescension for my desire to remain safe while playing at this facility.
Love this place
I’m extremely new to golf and this is the first course my husband took me to. I’ve been here about 5 times and have a blast. Great food, staff and other golfers! Everyone is extremely friendly and patient. I think we’re going to become members.
Great day, great service, great course, slow play
Only negative thing to say: Foursome two groups in front were drunk and slowed play. Everybody else was moving along just fine. Weather was great. Greens were in super shape running smooth and relatively fast. Estimate around 10 to 11. Enjoyed the layout. I'm a 12 index and found playing from the whites a reasonable test especially on the approach shots which were longer than on my home course. I assume the additional yardage contributes to the 130 slope. Still, shot an 84 which is an average for me so I was happy playing a new track. Carts were GPS equipped and accurate. Carts were also controlled as to speed and "no cart" restrictions. Thing would slow down on it's own. No big deal. Two ice chests were on the cart. Staff provided a wet towel and dry towel for club cleaning during the round. Very good staff which was sizeable to support weekend play. Plenty of folks to cover your needs on a weekend. Excellent facility. Restaurant didn't open until 11:00 but our order came out quickly which helped us get to the tee on time. Definitely look forward to playing again. If you haven't been there before I highly recommend. Great track with great folks and service, especially with all the COVID stuff they have to go through. Well done guys!
Excellent Course Design
My favorite Arthur Hills course. Excellent design with tees for all level s of players. (More courses need senior tees). Both my wife and I found it moderately challenging without being just plain too long for older golfers. We will definitely play again.
Great condition
The course was in great condition. The pace of play was excellent. The only negative was the screens for the GPS inside the golf carts. They are extremely annoying. There are multiple advertisements on every hole.
