Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Hidden Gem
I played Heritage Ranch Golf Club in Fairview today. Great course, fantastic shape, greens roll well, consistent fairways, nice variety. Most of the time the homes are far away from the course to not be in play. 2 minor issues are there is a lot of distance between many of the holes, so would be difficult if someone was looking to walk the course, and the amount of space from the green back to the cart path is too much on most of the holes.
I recommend this course.
Heritage Ranch.
The front 9 was not available due to heavy overnight rain so we had to play the back 9 twice. This did not effect the overall enjoyment of the course though. The round took a little longer than usual due to cart path rules but as always the course was in tremendous condition despite the recent wet weather. Definitely one of my favorites in the DFW Metroplex.
I'll be back
Great course, lot of fun and challenges. Was in great condition, greens are really good. The only knock is no beverage cart.
Fairways
Love the course layout and every time I’ve played. However, I’ve played a couple times the last couple years and I’m guessing due to several holes on the front 9 are in a low area and line the creek that runs through the front 9, several holes are cart path only. I’d suggest y’all look at fixing the issues where fairways get flooded due to excessive rainfall. Additionally, when we checked in my buddy and I stood at the counter for 5mins waiting for the two employees to finish a conversation they were having prior to acknowledging our presence. Not a big deal but a tad annoying and/or rude. Nevertheless, I love the track and the facilities....
Good round
Enjoyable round with good pace of play for early morning 9:30 tee time. Course was in great shape and greens rolled clean, especially considering they were only punched a week ago. #4 had some construction with a temporary tee box (range mat) only playing 78 yards or so. I feel like they could have easily pushed it back. Range had good turf and nice chip and putting area next to first tee. First time playing here and will be back for more.
Best course around
Wow wow wow. A few holes under construction and STILL the nicest public course around. Compares to private courses I’ve been lucky enough to play at. Extremely nice and great value for the money.
New favorite course.
Great day for golf
Course was in excellent condition,, except for some construction going on by one hole. Greens were fast, but rolled very good. This is a great place to play, but it is a little pricey compared to most of the courses I play. I would recommend this course.
Great course
they had recently punched the greens, but I will say they did a great job making the practice green similar to what you'd see on the course. Also, considering it's August in Texas, the fairways and greens were in great shape. I actually broke 80 for the first time in a while. Its definitely a course that rewards accuracy as opposed to length, though that comes in handy too. Staff was very polite and helpful when needed as well
Impeccable conditions, great layout, great service
Heritage needs to keep it up with the ice towels in the summer - BIG fan of those!
Great course
Always enjoy playing this hidden gem. It is very well maintained with a great layout. Greens are recovering nicely from been punched. They still roll pretty good and true, however.
It's also one of the few courses that still let you ride alone, due to COVID-19. Kudos to them for continuing to do that. Other courses tell you to maintain 6 feet apart from other golfers but force you to ride in the same cart with some stranger. Go figure.
Will I get a RainCheck?
We booked through GolfNow's worry free tee times. We played six holes before the clouds opened up. Heritage said we need to get a rain check from GolfNow. I go to GN's website but can't find how to do this. I am a VIP member. Confirmation #337574017. Not sure if i will get a rain check.
Immaculate condition!
A friend played the course last week and advised it was in awesome shape and that I should definitely make the 60 mile drive. I came across a great deal on Golf now and the rest is history. Heritage Ranch seems to take pride in the quality of their club as a whole, which I surmise solely from the 18 holes played. I was running just in time for my tee start (1:30) which didn't allow me any touring time but areas passed, via the main entrance, were impressive. Pro shop staff, cart guys and members I interacted with were as friendly as could be. I was grouped with 3 guys and due to an earlier tournament, we had a shotgun start beginning at 14. Although the course was full, pace of play was not an issue. We finished in 4 hours flat. Conditions, scenery and layout were the best. Greens were soft (would easily leave deep divots), putts ran true and the sand/traps were in the best shape I've seen any, being there are no rakes (as if someone was coming in during the round and cleaning them up). Overall, Heritage Ranch gets an A+ from me. Don't sleep on the track because it's a must play!
Thank you so much for the detailed and positive review! I am very happy your 60 mile drive was well worth it! Can't wait for you to come back out and see us again!

I am a member at another club and this round has me considering joining Heritage Ranch as a member instead of my current course

We take all reviews very seriously and without having an explanation listed, I was wondering what prompted only 3 stars?
