Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Decent course
I enjoy playing this course. A little disappointed with the overall upkeep of the fairways and cart paths but it's not that bad for the price. Some great views from several of the tee boxes and an extremely challenging hole 10. I would recommend this course.
worth playing
The fairways were in great shape. The greens were not in as good a shape, however they still putted consistently. Overall a very fun course with some very challenging holes
"Don't let the smooth taste fool you",
If want to test your game, Old Brickyard is a great place to play. No two holes are alike. You have a little of everything you want in a golfing challenge and for some guys, a lot of things that they don't want. We played form the tips which still was only 6300 yds., but as the saying goes, "Don't let the smooth taste fool you", well if you are an advanced golfer such as myself, then don't let the 6300 yds. fool you into thinking that you can manhandle this course, because if you want a challenge, play the tips and you'll see exactly what I mean!!! Even for golfers who are not so advanced you will have a challenge from the white or blue tees as well.
Great course!
This course kicks my butt! Bring lots of balls! Fun course!!!
Fun and challenging layout
Fun but challenging golf course. First time playing the Brickyard shot a 76 from the tips. Lots of hills and a few blind shots. I don't recommend walking it. The course was in decent shape. The greens and fairways had there bad spots. The staff was not very friendly but the course made up for it.
Old Brickyard
The course has very cool elevation changes and is easy to navigate. The green's are in pretty good shape and are a consistent speed. You have to hit your tee shots straight on some holes to avoid trouble but overall is a good challenge with several chances to make birdies.
A Pleasant Surprise!
I had driven by the course several times but never stopped in to play. Boy I have been missing out on a very good course. The terrain makes it extra challenging but as on most courses if you keep it in the fairway you'll have a good day! The bunkers are in terrible shape but if they were fixed most people couldn't afford to play here because they could charge a lot more!
Talk about elevation change
This course would have gotten a 4 if the greens would have been in better shape. The elevation changes were rediculous. Very neat course, and if you take one thing away from most of the reviews ... take extra balls. I lost a half dozen. The other three guys lost more than that. It is definitely target golf. Even some of the longer holes you can lose a golf ball when hit dead center of the fairway. I had a yardage book, but did not really read all of the description for the holes, but I would assume that it had hole strategy in it which I should have checked for. My advice would be to take an iron off of most tee boxes.
Never again
The greens were bumpy and some we're dead. The cart paths are in need of repair and the general course condition was not good. I have played twice before and was in much better condition.
Stay in the Fairway...
This was my first time playing this course, recommended by a co- worker. It was a little challenging at first. After the third hole it all started to come together. I had a great time.
Good Times
The greens needed some work, but overall the course was great. We were only delayed on a couple of holes, but we never had anyone behind us waiting, so the pace was actually good. Overall this was a fun course that we all enjoyed.
Great elevated tee shot golf
We had a blast playing this elevated tee box course. Tee it high and let it fly and watch your ball sail away. I really liked the downhill par 3 on the front. You can hit 2 less clubs there. The greens are coming back but did not effect play. Friendly Staff and cart girl came by 5 times. Good value and easy access to interstate. A definite go back and play again now that I know where the holes are. Make sure you get the yardage book.
Welcome to the Quarry
A great golf layout if you like scenic views and hitting elevated tee shots. An easy access just off the interstate. Our group had a blast playing this course. The greens are still recovering but the pins were all in areas where putting was no problem. Most shots just off the fairway bounced toward the middle. Make sue you get the yardage book. The Staff was very friendly and the cart girl showed up 5 times during our round. Don't try to get to 10 in 2 shots unless you are very long! Will definitely be back.
great price, unique holes, and really slow
relatively short course but very challenging holes. hard to believe this is a dallas area course because of the extreme hilly terrain. very pretty to the eye but be prepared to hit off of a lot of side hill lies and tons of blind shots. slowest round of golf(literally) i have ever played in my life but I am sure it is not always that way as i was a single stuck behind a fivesome who were hot on the heels of another fivesome who were behind a foursome and on number 9 all 3 groups were literally on the same hole playing as i watched heplessly from the tee box. I would love to play it again on a nice chilly winters weekday when the faint of heart are snug in their beds or anytime with a group. staff was very friendly and facility was nice.
Goat Farm
The course was in horrible condition. My backyard has better grass than this course. I don't enjoy hitting off of dirt in the middle of the fairway. The fairways weren't green and had patches of dirt where there was no grass. The greens were inconsistent. One green would be slow and bumpy while another was fast. The greens should have been called browns or yellows. And that wasn't even the worst part. The bunkers were not made of sand. It was a mixture of diet and concrete. They were not groomed and still had dried up spots where water used to be. It was horrible. Can't believed they charged $38 dollars yo play there.
Entertaining Day
Had fun, but rain and windy conditions made the "quarry death march" just that.
The course needed watering and grounds keeping!
The course has a nice layout. But it needs more maintenance .
Great Course!!!
I am impressed by the design of the course and many of the holes really are amazing. The hole #8 was my favorite.
Old Brickyard
This was a great course to play because of the unique challenge of each hole. The staff gave me a booklet to help me because it was my first time playing there and I was a single. I had a little confusion finding a couple of tee boxes but that was it. I will play here again.
good golf outing
The course was still in winter condition due to cold weather. With plenty of elevation changes and a windy day, club selection was important. We played 18 holes and found it to be a nice change from other courses in the area with plenty of slopes, rolling hills, sharp drop-offs, water hazards, thick brush lining the fairways, and plenty of tress. It's a very nice course and well worth the money.
