Lakewood Country Club
About
Lakewood Country Club of Naples sprawls across 52 lush acres that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including several different bird species. Located just outside of downtown Naples, Marco Island is just a few minutes away. The golf course snakes around four freshwater lakes, the sparkling waters contrasting beautifully with the native trees and shrubs that border the fairways and greens. The par-60 course is ideal for beginners, offering a round with a conveniently quick pace of play that will still put your short game skills to the test. Making putts is particularly challenging. Most of Lakewood Country Club of Naples's greens are elevated and you'll encounter water on 14 holes. There are also 28 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Every hole has a risk-reward scenario in play, which keeps the low handicappers happy but also gives new golfers the confidence to tackle the golf course without the fear that it's too much to handle.

Is this even a real golf course?
Played at 2:45pm on a Saturday, the course was almost empty, which is was a good thing. Pace of play was not a problem, got a full 18 in with lots of sunlight to spare.
I wasn't shocked at how short the course was as I was made aware prior to booking. The biggest concern was the size of the greens. Playing par 3 holes from 110 to 133 yards with greens smaller than a bachelor apartment was a comical, childish. This course has several holes (especially on the back nine) that belong in a city park surrounded by monkey bars, a basketball court and teeter totters. I've played mini-putt courses with greens bigger than these things. It's not like the property doesn't have the space for a proper sized green. It's mind boggling to think that anyone would get an executive golf course experience with such terribly designed greens. Perhaps new golfers wouldn't know the difference, perhaps junior golfers wouldn't care but as someone who has golfed for many years, I felt this course has too many holes that resemble what someone would cram into their backyard if they had the money. Also, it's strange that some holes on the front had "adult", normal greens, but then other holes are the complete opposite. Golf courses should be designed with fluidity and flow, consistency in mind. Who knows....may this course was designed on a smart phone for a grade 9 project. If you're looking for a real game of golf, go elsewhere. If you're looking for a public space, like a local park to bang around ball, this may suit your needs. But be careful as you may not get what you pay for as this is NOT A STANDARD DESIGN even for an executive course. Did I mention that the last employee on the property approached us on the 18th fairway telling us to hurry up because he "should have been home by now". This was around 6pm on a clear, blue skied sunny Saturday. We paid for 18 holes, there was plenty of sky remaining and we were well ahead of pace. We finished up with no issue. Lastly, there are zero amenities on the golf course. Pack your sandwiches, pack your drinks, and hope that the clubhouse isn't locked up too early or else you'll be having to use a shrub as your urinal. We still made the best of it, and luckily I was with my older parents and my new golfer partner. If I was there with my golfing crew, the return on the investment just isn't justifiable.
Nice day
This is a really nice Executive style course. It is great to hit clubs I don’t often use. The staff was very friendly, the course especially the greens were nice and the pace of play was decent. I am looking forward to playing it again. There aren’t many amenities so that is why I put a low grade there. They do have ice and water, just bring a cup.
We had a really nice experience.
Thank you!
Pat
A nice time
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We played 9 holes rather quickly. We started in the back 9. The first few par 3s had very small greens that made it challenging. The course has a nice layout. The greens were in good condition.
Nice day
This is a nice place to hit a lot of short game shots. We really enjoyed the day.
Poor tee time supervision
We started on time, but waited on every hole which we expected….but, when we made the turn they added two groups in front of us on the 10th hole! While a foursome did quit after 9, they added two groups in front of us! This has happened before! Very unfair of us playing 18 as we had already been waiting each hole. Someone from our group called the pro shop, no one answered, she left a message and no response back! Don’t start groups on 10 when
You are already packed!!!!!!
Good band for the buck
It's a fun course. Greens are teeny tiny, and always have a slope, so reading is a must. Enough water to justify the name Lakewood, and lose a few balls. Nothing luxurious. Just simple, fun golf that tests your short game.
No pressure just fun!
Enjoyable course. Everyones friendly. Love the challenge of the course . Looking forward to a nother date!!
Don’t go here
Complete garbage. The only holes and greens that were decent were the handful of par 4’s. Bathrooms outside of clubhouse were locked. No driving range just some junk mat to hit off of. Clubhouse was closed at 5 after we finished so we had no idea what to do with cart or rental clubs. This place is junk
Avoid at all costs
Short Course Nicely Maintained
Hard to find a Par 72 in the area that is reasonable with open T times. This Par 60 is a good alternative. Unfortunately, you’ll be using the same clubs over and over since yardage is similar for many of the holes.
