My New Home Course
Recently my wife and I made our move to Naples from N.C. and Riviera Golf Club is the closest course to our new home. It is somewhat difficult to compare central Carolina courses to those in south west Florida, so this is in no way a comparison but a stand alone review of Riviera Golf Club.
I imagine the course was built in the 1960s, or 70s; (I found very little specific course history) as an executive course of six par four holes, 1 par five and eleven par threes ranging from 120 to 190 yards in length totaling about 4300 total yardage from the very longest tees; par 62, not sure of slope ratings.
Course conditions at this time of year are, mostly, very good. Some tee boxes are in repair or needing some attention, difficult to fine a nice level place from which to tee up. The fairways should be, and possibly were, Bermuda but most have been overtaken by various grasses, yet the lies are good for the most part as the crews keep the fairways nicely mowed. Every green is elevated and they roll quite nicely, about 9 on the stemp meter, aside from number 9 which has recently undergone a complete remodel and grass replacement; it is a bit long and shaggy as the new grass takes hold.
All of the conditions combine to make for a somewhat challenging round of golf.
The club house is of the era in which it was built, there are no special amenities, the staff are friendly and helpful with questions or concerns. There are many new golf carts, even the old ones are in very nice condition.
I play this course about once a week, usually early in the day and always enjoy the round, usually played in under four hours. I always play 18, how can you play 18 and not play nine holes; a question I ask in answer to the poorly worded question "Did you play 9 holes?"
This is a course on which one can learn the game as a new player or work on your short game as a more learned player. You will be challenged with your wedges around the greens due to the elevation and run offs, bring your best efforts when you play Riviera Golf Club.
.
Don't bother playing it!
Golfnow did not say it was executive course and by the time I figured it out it was to late to cancel it. Not worth $50 when other championship courses are not much more. Pace of play was great as we were the only ones on the course, finished in under two hours.
Pleasantly surprised
Great place to play when all the snowbirds have landed on the high priced courses. I've found a winter home.
Disappointing
We have played this course several times in the past. We know that it is not a championship course but the price is right and it is usually takes less than 3 hours to plan 18 holes. Having said that, yesterday was a real disappointment. We played as a 2 some. The course was in terrible shape. The greens were very slow and fuzzy. The tee blocks were all set off to the side of the tees, as if someone was supposed to cut the tee areas, but did show up for work . The apron areas around the greens had not been cut in days.
If it were not for fact that we booked our tee time on one of your hot deals, I would have complained to the manager, and asked for a full refund.
I am wondering if the course has had a change of ownership?
The course was completely empty. The other 2 some who had booked your hot deal tee time, and us were the only people on the course all day. Not a pleasant day, I'm afraid.
The little course that could
An investment in course maintenance could make this a great course to play. Things like flag sticks that fit into the cup; greens that have clear evidence of damage; tee boxes that are not mowed properly. Without a laser finder, some flagsticks were camouflaged by the surrounsing trees and houses.
Value for money.
We have played Riviera on several occasions and found the reception was dependant on the staff on duty, let's just say the guys are very friendly.
Wouldn't pay more than $25
Good course to work on your short game but the greens are in terrible shape. Not worth more than $25.
i know its offseason, but come on.
even for 10 dollars a round, this course is in awful shape.
worst course ive ever played.
literally.
Not has easy for a par62
Good value when you go through Golf Now . Com my biggest complaint is the pin are not allowing placed in the center of the cup don't know if it's the ground crew or other golfers pro shop seems to be oblivious to this issue. Could be a very nice course if they would put some money in it, not bad for the locals,we know what to expect going through the discount sites.Would be a felony to charge more than $20.00 this time of year. During season add $20 or 30 dollars and play a real course.
Golf club
Staff Rendy angry because I bay ticket by GOLFNOW Golf good too practice.Central Naples location.Golf no busy

This is by far the worst course in Naples. I have played every course around here and I will NEVER EVER play hear again. First of all my tee time was at 7am. We were there at 6:30am. No one even showed up until 6:50am. The mans name was Randy. He didn't even say "hi" or "sorry I was running a little late this morning". You can tell he is a miserable old man. It was like we were a burden for being there. This man is in a customer service position and he has no clue about what customer service is. Do yourself a favor and do not go here. The course is The Biggest Joke. I can't even believe they call it a golf course. I would say its more like a ranch with some holes in it. What a horrible experience. I would not go there if it was free.
Wet
I would like to play this course in the winter time when the course is dry and the greens are not airified. It had standing water every where and some of the greens had not had the sand scraped in on the arification. Two of us played 18 in 2 hours and 42 minutes which was very nice.
Visiting from Austin
Easy course for folks that haven't played in awhile or is just beginning. Great treatment from the folks there. Rained heavily the night before and only a few fairways rough. Also, off season for golfers in Florida so a lot of work is done so not used as much.
Beware Green Maintenance
The fairways and tees were okay, but the greens had just been aerated. Hence the putting conditions were quite poor.
A nice , quick round
A pleasant par 62 course that lets you work on your short game, with a number of opportunities to take the woods out.
Not crowded , greens in ggod shape, good pace of play; a good value experience , playing 18 in 3 hours
Good
This was a good value. There was hardly anyone there. good
Dry bare fairways.
Course is overpriced given generally poor to fair conditions. Greens not great but fairly maintained. Same with tees. Still best price in town for a lousy golfer who is not fussy over course quality. Even better when discounted on Golfnow. Short course allows for completing round in three hours or less. I played 18 alone in two hours.
Good Warm up
I played this course twice in the past week, after playing it last year as well. It is very close to where my parents stay, so it's easy for my father and I to get there. They have replaced the greens, so those are in great shape. The tee boxes and fairways are hit or miss. The course is easy to play and has alot of short holes to practice your short game. It's quick to play as well. Not as pretty as other courses, but for the money (golf now deal) and the quickness, it's a nice little course to play.
Hi jazo, I am interested to know how you managed to play 18 holes as per your review and not play 9 holes as you answered the question in the precursor of the review questionnaire where you answered NO. It has been my contention the question "did you play nine holes" is poorly worded and should be removed from the questions. No one can play 18 without playing nine, mathematically impossible.
