El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

FIRE ANTS
Beware of this course until they start spraying for ants. The fire ants are bad. I will give them credit for the improved tee boxes. Before, the fire ants would swarm you while you were teeing off. The driving range is covered with fire ant beds. I don't think they understand how painful it is to get 12 or 15 ant bites. It lasts for several days and can leave scars. This is not the first complaint. Start caring about your customers. Don't bother sending me an email saying, "We are not perfect, but we are trying." Just try harder!
Summer golf at El Rio
Greens were getting some repairs and several tee boxes are getting renovated. Sand traps are deep and difficult to get out of. Had a good time and course was not crowded.
Very fun and more changing than much bigger courses.
Have fun here. Work on your short game to your hearts desire. Use a driver occasionally. Hybrids are good their due to grass in good condition.
I definitely recommend this course. You’ll grab a birdie on a par four and then flub the 138yd par three into a DB. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Good short course
I have played this course several times. You can use a 3 wood to a driver on Hole 1 and 10.
Most of the holes are pitch to 7 iron. The greens are in very poor condition.
My BIGGEST complaint is tons of Fire Ants on the tee pads. I even got a bite on the driving range. Make sure you wear long socks and spray your legs with Off.
Great value course
My husband and I played first thing in the morning. We were to tee off behind a group of four, so we skipped the first hole and started on 2nd hole, We had no one in front and played 17 holes in 2.5 hours. Perfect morning!
Great day with my wife.
She’s getting better. Parred a hole amd is learning the chip shots. So proud.
Nice course.
Great course to play. Hope your short game is fair. Very challenging and fun to your ego. I do recommend playing here.
Short game practice and friendly staff
I always pop in for a couple swings while visiting family without spending 4-5 hours out. Makes you realize how terrible your short game is. All the staff are super friendly and will always go back to see them.
I love this course!
I love this course and the staff. They are always so accommodating.
