Very nice course and atmosphere. Definitely have this on my favorite list.
A Diamond Built In The Rough
Formerly known as the Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course, this entertaining track built on an Everglades preserve featured a winding, somewhat nondescript, front nine that bordered a residential development followed by a visually spectacular back nine that neatly snaked through a seasonally dry marsh. There was a young diamondback rattler squiggling across the fairway on No. 13, a double dog-legged Par 5 that while not listed as the toughest hole, could have easily qualified as such. Course management and joining up with a person familiar with this rather short, but deceptive, course was most useful as I saved several balls and strokes during a nearly four-hour round played on some of the truest greens in South Florida. Considering near drought conditions, the fast-running fairways were in solid condition, with a bit of bareness on the fringes where several sandhill cranes were hanging out. Because of usual inattentive care from golfers on this heavily-played course, the bunkers were pretty beaten up. The pro staff and cart attendants were professionally polite, but not particularly welcoming. While the cart service was limited, due to late afternoon time slot, the attendant was friendly and efficient. The Dancing Crane restaurant in the spiffy, newly-minted clubhouse is one of the very best in South Florida. And as many courses close in South Florida, it is heartening to know that the city of Palm Beach Gardens, which owns Sandhill Crane, is building a new Par 3 course to complement its 18-hole gem.
scenic course
first time playing course but had a regular to help with shot directions which helped. course conditions were good. good greens. not a long course but has doglegs to make you hit to spots. the course is a little out of the way but would play again.
Good value and great course
Course is in great shape and the new clubhouse provides wide food options plus lots of wildlife make for a winning experience. Definitely worth a try.
Rough day due to players who ignore good sense and drive through roped off areas or on par 3s. If not for two sets of these players we would have played in 4 hours. The carts shut down when you violate cart rules and you can only back out—back out straight and you will be fine —try to steer out and the swamp awaits....
Trying to Be an Upscale Course
The City of Palm Beach Gardens has overpriced the greens fees for this course to pay for their overly fancy new clubhouse, which they want to serve as an event venue. It's a bit out of the way from most of the local area population and not that convenient for events they are trying to attract, although an additional 9 holes and new housing (and much needed additional parking) are planned for next door. But it's still the same golf course -- average conditions and pace of play in a great natural setting with a water driving range -- that do not warrant an increase in greens fees. It did not appear that the golf course has been changed much. Look for a deal instead of paying full price.
Excellent course and conditions
We were all amazed at the condition of the course. It was fantastic. The greens were perfect and the fairways were well maintained. The staff was extra friendly. Great day !!!
A gem of a course
Well manicured course with plenty of challenges for all. Greens a bit slow but run true and in good shape. Excellent practice area and the new pros hog Resturant building is georeouse
Great setting
Love this course. Well kept greens, friendly staff, new clubhouse.
Fun course and great value
The course is in great shape and pace of play overall very good. The new clubhouse and other amenities will only add to the overall experience when it opens soon.
Very Good Experience
Conditions nice. Ace game f play was great. Greens running smooth and quick. Going back again in next week while here on vacation.
Wildlife preserve in excellent shape
First time playing. The clubhouse wasn't open yet, but looks gorgeous for a municipal course. Once that opens amenity rating should go up. Lots of wildlife (saw multiple Gators and an Osprey with a fish in its talons). Course in great shape and has a challenging layout that makes you think about your shots.
Only criticism is that the holes were on top of each other. I went long and left on a Par 3 and I almost hit the guys on the tee box on the next hole (just one example).
cartpath only?
Only complaint would be that it was cart path only and did not seem necessary especially on holes 1 thru 9. Other wise all good.
Great Muni
Needed a place to play on a vacation to FL. Discovered this great muni. Pace of play was perfect, the course was in excellent shape, the layout challenging but fair. A new clubhouse is almost complete which will make this an even better experience. I'll be back for sure.
Great course and wildlife sightings
Course is in excellent condition and when the new clubhouse and amenities are available will be A+. The alligators and birds - Rosetta spoonbill plus ibis and other beauties make for a fun day.
