Good course. Just need some rain
Dry now. Will get better. Friendly starters and bag men
The condition of the golf course is beyond bad and I realize the new owners have a lot of work to do do you boxes were terrible and no grass on the golf course particularly number 13 and 14 good luck will take at least five years
Good course but a lot of dried out spots
I paled 18 holes in late-March '23. I also play with a group on the front 9 every Thursday AM. The layout of the course is very good but right now this course and most others in the area are dried out. A lot of time fairway shots were off hard-pack. The back 9 played much better - it had been extra-irrigated for a pro-am tournament and was closer to being green. I will play this course again partly because it is reasonably priced compared to many others.
Weeds galore
I live in Martin Downs and it would be convenient to play this course more but not in its current condition. Greens have weeds; fairways full of weeds and looks like a hayfield; some of the tee boxes have no grass. Unfortunate its not been maintained well because Its a great layout. Not worth the money
course condition
I really like the layout but the course needs some maintenance because the fairways are in bad shape
Another good round of golf in Florida.
Awesome round. Got to witness Charlie woods play the 18th and hit to within 3 ft. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Just a shame
It’s a shame. Just a beautiful layout for a golf course. Unfortunately it hasn’t been cared for in years. The greens are the only part of the course that have been cared for.
The tee boxes are dirt and the “fairways” are weeds and dirt. The owner seems to be spending all of his money on the clubhouse restaurant. Someone needs to tell him he owns a golf course and some money should be spent on it.
I know it’s only $50 but I wouldn’t go back there for free. As I said earlier, it’s a shame, what was once a beautiful course is now a dog track. Take your $50 and use it at a real golf course.
Terrible condition
I’ve been playing this course for many years every March and it’s always been in great shape. But this year it’s a completely different story. The fairways are burnt out and crabgrass is growing in tufts. The greens are 5 out of 10 and the tees are very poor. Obviously, the course can’t control Mother Nature and it desperately needs rain. But that being said, the greens fee should be $10 until the course improves. Either that or close it completely. Sorry to say this because I’ve always enjoyed Martin Downs.
Needs water and it will be fine
Martin Downs played well, nice layout and somewhat forgiving. The fairways had tight lies and the greens would not hold because they were so dry. I know the area is in a drought, but the course just needs some water. Will definitely play the course again.
Awesome layout, poor conditions
This place would be absolutely amazing in better shape. Love the layout. As it is, it’s pretty rough - but it’s priced accordingly so I really don’t mind.
Good course in rough condition
Course needs reconditioning, but we knew that going in. We love the holes and layout. What broke the camel's back on this particular day was pace of play, We quit after 13 holes since we were on pace for a 5-hour round.
The Reviews are all Stellar, the Couse not so much
Previous Reviews are high rated, and the layout, especially the back nine, reveals an older mature course built around older condos, its wide open, the par 5’s are fun, the par 3’s are over water and challenging. The problem was course conditions; and maybe all FL courses are currently suffering the same problem: the course was dry as a bone, no rain and theirs no irrigation (?) so everything is severely parched, the green bumpy, the fairways brown and patchy, etc. certainly NOT as advertised as a practice course for the US open. It was only $55 but actually not worth it. Rumor is it was justvrecently bought and has been neglected for years, hence the current condition but that is not verified.
