Buffalo Creek Golf Course

Let’s start at the beginning.

GolfNow showed a ton of tee times for 1-4 golfers showing the course would be not as busy. I knew I couldn’t call and verify because it sends you to a 3rd party tee time management company not on the premises. I decided to drive there and see how it looked in person being I’ve played here before and my round was 6 hours and 45 mins.

I arrive and there is a flood of people waiting for golf carts. Red flag #1. I walk in and ask the Pro Shop worker if it’s really busy today and he scoffs and says yeah. I tell him I’m just going to hit up the driving range instead of wasting a ridiculous amount of time on a round. He then argues with me saying I haven’t played a round over 6 hours there and that would be impossible. Don’t worry bud, I have the receipts.

I get my balls and head to the range which is now “mats only.” They used to allow you to use the grass but they do such a poor job maintaining it that they can no longer offer it. Guys are still hitting off the turf and other golfers are yelling at each other.

As I’m hitting my balls, I hear yelling from one of the workers at another worker. He grabs a golf cart and tears through the grass, screaming obscenities at the starter. He berates him in front of the entire course on hole 1 and continues to curse him out as he does a quick 180 on the golf cart, tires squealing. He continues to yell at him through his walkie talkie which all of us can hear.

I decided to not hit the rest of my balls because I can’t even focus at this point.

I lastly want to point out that their “chipping” area is a complete joke. It’s a pile of dirt with a flag sticking out of the top of it and weeds growing all around. No grass at all. Just dirt and weeds.

Save yourself the money and headache. Go somewhere where the staff treat visitors, coworkers and the course with respect and dignity. This place isn’t it.

Pace of play not good. Course not crowded, but no ranger to address problem.

I’ve played here for years and have always enjoyed the course and conditions. I have to pat the greens superintendent for maintaining the course in great shape.

A few greens have been damaged. Plus the weeds on the greens not acceptable. Have played Buffalo Creek several times this year but it looks like they are letting it go not a great course more of a 25 to 30 dollar track

... The course is in pretty good shape, especially the greens. Holes #10 and 17 greens are getting better after the vandalism. Still sad to see the water so low.

This is one of the heaviest played courses in the area. It has been packed all season. Beside slow play, a few tee boxes are pretty chopped up and a couple of greens having to be repaired because some fool had drove on them, it has been fairly well maintained. This is one of my favorite layouts so it's nice to see the crew put in the extra effort. The staff is always friendly and Jessica in the snack bar (14 yrs. !!!) is always a joy. I am looking forward to summer when I will again have the course all to myself.

Can’t go wrong with Buffalo Creek.

I’ve played this course many times over the years. I’ve seen it resemble a Links course, dry and fast and as a Swamp course; soaked and cart path only. I am so glad that they got new carts in the past year, the old ones were kinda beat. The new ones are neat and accelerate very quickly.

Pros: very open, no houses to hit, greens have improved greatly, The 18th hole is very impressive; I never like that island green idea.

Cons: tee boxes could use those little trash cans for the busted tees, sand to fill the divots (yes, I know we have sand on the carts, but still), remove the shells and larger rocks out of the sand traps, the mats on the driving range could be a little thicker than the current ones, Cody is trash cans on every tee box. Space out tee times; it felt as if the starter wanted to get as many people out there as possible, which I can understand, but this leads to wait times on the course.

Overall, Buffalo Creek does offer a nice day out for a decent price, when compared to the other courses in the area. My final suggestion is to post rules about pace of play and golf course etiquette.

played the last two weekends and both rounds were 4:30 to 5:00 hours plus, waited on every hole. great course and friendly staff, they need to make sure the rangers keep the morning groups on a clock to ensure solid pace of play. never had an issue before with pace of play. not enjoyable.

Nice layout, bette than good greens and avg tboxes. Fairways ok but needs watering and more grass. Carts clean and working good.

Cart person for beverages would be nice to have. Would play again.

The greens were average, but the rest of the course needs much care.

This golf course could be nice course. The course was packed with people golfing. People jumping from hole to hole, people 2 r3 holes behind, people drinking heavily and alot of disrespect for the course and for other people who could actually play golf.

This seemed to be the season of golf in 2024 for the sunshine state. Rangers just roaming for their free rounds of golf and not getting people to move along, get drunks off the course and ensuring everyone can enjoy their round of golf.

Such a sham for these courses and not just Buffalo Creek.😡

Buffalo Creek is a good public course but, as a local, public course, it is way over priced.

There's also no excuse for the price to double during snowbird season for us players who support the course year round.

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Tee boxes are being worked on but playable. Staff was great and pace of place was good. Played once before but don’t get over to Bradenton area that often.
